Grant County was chosen as a 2007 Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity grant recipient. We started building a home in Potosi starting in April 2007. To view pictures of the homebuilding process, visit the Grant County Habitat for Humanity Website.

Mark your calendars and come out to the groundbreaking ceremony for our area’s newest Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity home in Potosi. Bring a shovel to participate in the groundbreaking! For information or to RSVP call 348-9119.

More Information about the Potosi Build:
Thrivent Financial has awarded the Grant County Habitat for Humanity a $60,000 grant. These funds will be used towards the purchase of a lot and construction of a home in Potosi starting in April 2007. The location of the home will be in the Potosi Heights Subdivision.

The Thrivent Builds grant requires 50% of on site volunteers to be Lutheran. Additionally, 50% of the Lutheran volunteers must be Thrivent members. Volunteers helped with construction and landscaping. Additionally, volunteers provided lunch to on site volunteers, acted as site hosts or assisted with fundraising.

More about the Alliance:
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity have joined together to build affordable homes for families in need. Thrivent Financial intends to invest $105 million over a four-year period into this unique alliance called "Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity." In 2006, 313 homes were constructed as a result of the alliance. Seven of those homes were built in the Southwest Wisconsin District.
