2008 Events
On this page we highlight Care in Community Projects that will be held and have been held during the current year.

We will highlight Care in Congregations Projects if the Congregation provides us with the pertinent information.

In addition the Chapter provides our Chapter Congregations with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Logo paper plates, foam cups and napkins upon request from a Congregational Coordinator.


FUNDS FOR FOOD - Completed
March 23, 2008 - King of Kings held a fund raiser to benefit KINGS FOOD PANTRY, in South Lebanon, OH.
Raised-$500; Matched-$500.
SOUPER BOWL SUNDAY - Completed
Super Bowl Sunday members of St. Paul Lutheran church held a fund raiser to benefit the Franklin Area Community Services. This agency supports Franklin, Springboro, and Carlisle with a Food Pantry and other services needed by those in need. Raised-$755; Matched-$755.


Wrinkle Review - Musical Comedy - Coming Event
The Deardorff Senior Center in Franklin will hold their annual Wrinkle Review to raise funds to help area Seniors in late Ocbober or early November. Stay tuned for the exact date.

JOIN HANDS DAY EVENTS - Completed
In 2008 the Chapter had two Join Hands Events where Adults and Youth participated in a community event.

1 - Kings of Kings LC - youth and adults purchased flowers and planted them to beautify the church yard.

2 - St. Paul LC - youth and adults visited the local Food Pantry to learn what they do and what items they needed. They then went to a local store to purchase needed items.


American Cancer Society Run/Walk - Future Event
June 8, 2008 - Abiding Word LC will sponsored the 4rd Annual "Run for the Prize" 5K Run/Walk and Little Tyke Dash, Sunday, June 8th, 2008
Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Interfaith Hospitality Network Run/Walk - Future event
On July 4, 2008 the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Warren County (IHNWC) will hold its 2nd annual Red/White/Blue or Run/Walk/Benefit at CountrySide YMCA in Lebanon, OH. Proceeds benefitted the families that receive services at IHNWC.

BACK PACKS FOR SCHOOL - Completed
Members of St. Paul Lutheran Church held a fund raiser to raise money for children in need to have back packs and back to school supplies when they begin school in August 2008. The project is coordianted through the Franklin Area Community Services that aids folks in Carlisle, Franklin and Springboro that are in need.
Raised - $2,400, Matched - $1,600.

Second Time Shop & Childrens Christmas - Future Event
On Friday evening and Saturday morning of the first full week end in each month the Second Time Shop housed at St. Paul Lutheran Church is open to sell good clothing at a low price to raise money to purchase new clothing for area children of low income homes for Chiristmas. Several area churches assist in this effort. Children to receive the new clothing are selected by the Salvation Army and the Franklin Area Community Services. In past years approximately 200 children 12 and under have been given clothing each year. In 2007 the project Raised $3,101 and was Matched-$1,600.
