2008 Join Hands Day |
The official Join Hands Day is May 3rd, but a Join Hands Day activity can take part over a period of time too. This year LaPorte County Thrivent for Lutherans is sponsoring and helping with two activities.
"Reins of Life" had a shed that they needed scraped, painted and some repairs made on. You can see a BEFORE picture below. We worked on June 14 and had beautiful weather. Our second project is a beautification at Serenity Gardens, located at St. Paul Church in Michigan City.
Last year, 93 percent of Thrivent chapters conducted JOIN HANDS DAY activities, including our own LaPorte County. This resulted in nearly 3,000 activities and 590,000 volunteer hours of service! This year we hope to achieve 100 percent participation.

!Thrivent Builds! |
LaPorte County Thrivent Builds is off to a great start. Funds are starting to come in and the house is already framed and moving along. A young couple with three children will be benefiting from this Thrivent Builds project.
Bethany Lutheran Church in LaPorte County is matching donations so each dollar you donate is really TWO dollars! Please give your donation to your congregational coordinator or and LaPorte County Chapter Leaderership board member.
The Thrivent Builds link will direct you toward our project and a sign-up sheet if you would like to be a hands-on participant. The house will be dedicated on August 9th. Thrivent Builds is directly associated with your local Habitat for Humanity organization. |

September 9th, 2007 was our 3rd annual LaPorte County Thrivent Financial picnic!
Free food and drink with games and prizes.
Many people attended and it was a great time to catch up with friends and have some tasty food!
There were also games and prizes. Something for old and young alike.
