N.E. Seattle Chapter 30185 would like to invite members to be involved in Congregational service projects by joining your congregational service team or community service projects by joining a community service team.
Two projects are in the planning stages for this spring by your local Chapter board.

The first is providing Quilting batting to quilting groups that make quilts for Lutheran World Relief and local needy. The chapter is aware of several Congregations that are currently involved in quilting. However, we do not have any way of contacting quilting groups that have started recently. If you know of a newly formed quilting group, please contact a Chapter officer or call me at 206-363-8871. The N.E. Seattle Chapter would like to support the efforts by providing batting.
The second project involves Join Hands Day. This is a project that involves adults and youth. Join Hands Day projects must be completed no later than July 1st. A Join Hands Day project may be eligible for a National Join Hands Day award if it is conducted on May 7th and has been designated as such by special application. This is an excellent way to involve youth in community service projects. Our chapter had successful Join Hands Day projects last year and are looking forward to repeating that success. There is money available for promotion and/or awards for these projects. Contact a N.E. Seattle Chapter 30185 officer for details.

Remember, your Congregation has money available for Lutheran World Relief School kits or other projects for your Sunday School or Youth program. Members from six different Thrivent Financial for Lutheran households is all it takes to turn an idea into reality. Congregational money may be used for community projects or for your own church.
Community service money is available through your local chapter to meet needs in the greater community. Keep your eyes and ears open to community needs and again, contact your local chapter to access those dollars.

Thank you for your past support and keep in mind that together we can make a difference.

Sincerely,
David Munger
Chapter President

Northeast Seattle Chapter
Welcome to 2005. Please be informed thet we have a new board of directors for the Northeast Seattle Chapter. Members elected in November included: David Munger-President, Bob Enloe-Vice President, Chris Bartels-Records Director, Tony Soder-Treasurer,Terry Vogel-Congrgational Service Team Director, and Shawn Bergstrom-Youth Director. At the December chapter meeting, Gary Sievert was appointed to the position of Communicaations Director and Juanita Serrato was appointed to the position of Assistant Finance Director.

Building on the success of the past, this new board is ready to accept the challenges of the coming year. Our job will be to meet needs in our community that are within our parameters by using the Care Abounds in Community Funds and encourage church congregations to use their Care in Congregation Funds to either benefit their own congregations or use the money to meet a community need.

Care Abounds in Community Funds can be used to help Lutheran and non Lutheran not for profit groups. These funds are also available for certain types of personal and community disasters

Care in Congregation Funds are available to congregations that have in place three congregational coordinators. These funds can be used for Lutheran World Relief school kits, quilting, food banks, church socials, and church property projects as well as many other community projects.

Project volunteers need to include members from six thrivent households to access either of these funds. If you would like information on these funds, feel free to contact a congregational coordinator or any of the chapter officers.

There are some positions available on the Northeast Seattle board. If you are interested in serving your community through the Thrivent Chapter system, please contact us. The work of the chapter is personally rewarding and serves to meet many needs in our community. Keep us in your prayers and help us help others.

Thank You,
David Munger
