Ladies from Peace Lutheran Church in St. Joseph have sent 100 quilts to Lutheran World Relief and have made lap quilts for wounded military that are being cared for at the veterans hospital at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. This is a most obvious and literal Hands-on Service Project for workers Gerrie Hacker, Wanda Hartman, Shirley Summer, Sherie Nitz and Shirley Oates. |

Chapter Grant Criteria |
Mail (postmarked) or hand deliver completed application on or before the 15th of the month to: Jeanne Feltner, Community Service Team Director OR Any chapter board member 2004 Grant Review Dates and Deadlines Applications are due on or before the 15th of the month preceding the chapter meeting. Chapter meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month. Grants will be reviewed at the monthly chapter board meeting. In case of emergency needs, contact a chapter board member for assistance. All applications will be accepted or rejected by the chapter board, never by any individual board member. Applicants will need to add a specific time of day and specific place of their event to the application. In addition, a copy of publicity materials should be returned with the final reports. Criteria For Grant Consideration (Grants will be evaluated on the following basis) 1. What is the Degree of Need of the Project Beneficiary? 25 points 2. Do we have available Funds in Chapter #30818? 25 points 3. Is there a required number of Thrivent Households participating? 10 points 4. Is there a realistic time frame for the project? 10 points 5. Do we believe the Service Team has the ability to carry out project? 10 points 6. Does project provide visibility for Thrivent Financial? 10 points 7. Does project express Christian values? 10 points Total = 100 points

Join Hands Grants |
The next annual Join Hands Day is planned for May 5, 2007. We anticipate that again our chapter will have funds available for activities that qualify according to the guidelines. Please note that while the recommended day is May 5, activities can take place between April 1 and June 30. Funds and shirts are available to any group that would like to plan a Join Hands activity before June 30. Contact Dan Barz at 429-7521 or dbarz.oafc@juno.com for more information.
