In the past a Bossomtime bike ride has been held as part of the annual Blossomtime celebration. Many cyclists welcomed this early spring ride. The Blossom2Ride is meant to be a simple and free family friendly ride. Simple, short and flat enough for the casual rider the ride invites all Berrien County area riders and would be riders to dust off their bicycles and enjoy a spring afternoon.
The route takes the rider from its start at the Lincoln Township Library in Stevensville, Michigan south to Warren Dunes and back. The total route is flat and is about 14 miles each way. For riders looking for a greater challenge alternate routes with a few hills will be provided.
Support is provided at the start, In Bridgman, and at Warren Dunes. Riders who need a shorter route may return from Bridgman. During the first 2 rides some have riden to Warren Dunes and then caught a ride back to Stevensville.
The 2005 ride started at 3:00 p.m. and most were finished by 6:00. The forecast was for a beautiful and warm afternoon but our area got a cool damp afternoon.
For 2008 we will plan a simular route as refined for 2007 but the May 10th ride will start at 2:00 and should be finished between 5:00 and 5:30. A more challanging route for those who would prefer such a route is also planned. We are also offering a long sleeve shirt for $15. Shirts must be ordered by May 5. (Checks should be made payable to "Dan Barz" and sent to 5648 Mohican Dr., Stevensville, MI 49127.)
Donations for basic expenses will be gratefully accepted. Extra funds will be given to the Thrivent Builds with Habitat project.
