Thrivent Financial sponsoring appeal for tornado victimsChapters around the country are sponsoring an appeal for victims of the April 27 tornadoes that tore through Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.
The not-for-profit financial services membership organization has committed up to $275,000 for victims of the tornado. The funding includes up to $250,000 designed to supplement at least $500,000 in fundraising activities through Thrivent Financial chapter service teams (groups of individuals from at least six separate Thrivent Financial member families).
Members of Thrivent Financials South Alaska Chapter seek to raise up to $50,000 with an additional $25,000 ($2/$1 match) by Thrivent National for a total of $75,000 contribution from the South Alaska Chapter. These contributions must be sent to the board Treasurer by June 25, 2011
Chapters funds raised and collected by our South Alaska Chapter will be sent to Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR).
The organization is also providing $25,000 in additional "Care in Regions" funding to help local Thrivent Financial volunteer relief efforts in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee.
"Thrivent Financial members have always demonstrated their caring nature during times of natural disaster," said Tim Schwan, Thrivent Financial vice president of Church and Community Engagement. "These dollars will supplement and support the generosity of our members as they give and raise funds through their local chapters to support those who are suffering."
