The event will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with a 1 hour Congregational Advocate training session. As outlined in letters sent to each Congregation in the Chapter, Congregational Advocates that are registered as Congregational Advocates with Thrivent (to get registered, email Michael Cuda at event@1600legal.com) and attend the training will receive a $100.00 donation to their Congregation!

At 11:00 a.m., David Meade will present a one hour Economic Update prepared by Thrivent Financial. At 1:00, Michael Cuda will present an Identity Theft Workshop. Lunch will be available between the 2 workshops.

Also available throughout the day will be updates on the Let's Get Healthy! program (it's not too late to register for this healthy lifestyle and improvement program), cooking demonstrations, assistance getting registered online as a Thrivent member and for allocating your Thrivent Choice Dollars, Lutheran Night at Rangers Ballpark information and much more.

The Recovery Resource Council's single largest fundraising event is the Jim Bradshaw Stars in Recovery Luncheon which was held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth. The Keynote Speaker was Academy Award Winning Actor Lou Gossett, Jr. and the event was Co-Chaired by Congresswoman Kay Granger and Texas State Senator Wendy Davis. Also in attendance at the event was Former Speaker of the House, the Honorable Jim Wright of Fort Worth.

The Luncheon was sold out and with the assistance of a Care in Regions grant sponsored by Thrivent Financial, over $210,000 was raised in a single afternoon.

Due to changes in the economy, Thrivent Builds will only build four homes in all of Texas next year. Unfortunately, Tarrant County was not selected as one of the areas. This will give local Lutheran churches a sabbatical year. We hope to gain another house or two in 2011. It is possible that smaller rehab projects may be done in 2010, however.
