2008 Mission Statements

Goals Emphasis in 2008

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT

Look for improvement in attendance at events , higher participation in GivingPlus , benefits of membership access, client referrals to reps, improve Care in Congregation results for their fundraisers, Grant successes, Baptismal and confirmation recognition. Action : provide support for congregational based gatherings/training at least $100 per gathering from operating funds

THRIVENT BUILDS

Do a great job of implementing ThriventBuilds in our Chapter. Action: Execute the cooperative effort with Houston Habitat for Humanity to build 5 homes in 2008. Use all effective communication we can to encourage participation in local AND global builds

CARE PROGAMS

Meet expectation for Care in Congregation fundraiser target(s) to exceed $2 raised per $1 provided with a goal of $3 to $1 for service team activities and $5 $1 for large events. Meet or exceed Care in Community performance in 2006. Participate in Care in Regions.

Action: work with coordinators to raise the expectation. The Chapter will allocate a maximum of $1600 per organization with the exception of our two largest local Lutheran organizations, Good Samaritan Home and Krause Children's Center for which the Chapter will allocate $1600 at a $3 to $1 ratio for Chapter Congregational activities and $1600 at a $5 to $1 ratio for the annual Golf Tournaments.

We will continue to encourage new and cooperative projects.

YOUTH

Youth involvement in planning and executing activities will be encouraged/improved . Action: Use at least 10% of our Care in Community funds for Youth developed and executed projects

COMMUNICATIONS

Improve our use of Electronic communication and info available on line. Build local news coverage. Action: Improve our Chapter Web Site. Use our available Chapter mailers. Remain current with reports available in Chapter Leader Administration

RECOGNITION

Improve/Develop a formal recognition program for coordinators, members and Chapter. Submit Chapter of Excellence by 1/20 . Submit Volunteer of the Year nominations Develop Recognition program for members/coordinators

OTHER AREAS of EMPHASIS:

ATTEND AND COMMUNICATE INFORMATION ON PROCESSES: Communicated through Training events, conference calls .

DISASTER RESPONSE: Be responsive to accessing additional Disaster Response Funds with most current processes/ capability.

ENCOURAGE USE OF GRANT INITIATIVES: Charitable Gifting, Regional Relations, Care in regions,

TRANSITION FOR 2008: We need to invite other potential leaders to learn /see our processes.
