TRIBUTE TO RALPH NITZ

Ralph Nitz, founding president of Springfield Lutheran High, and long time Thrivent (Lutheran Brotherhood) board member passed away March 10, 2011 due to heart complications. What can we say about Ralph, other than he was bigger than life. Ralph was a father, grandpa, brother, principal, teacher, carpenter, actor, singer, community volunteer, board member, Bible and history scholar, master to his canine pal, and most of all a friend. A person had to see him live all those roles, and act the ones he played on stage, to understand what a dynamic person Mr. Nitz was. He always had projects going on - one on his desk/computer, one in the lumber pile, and one in his mind. he whistled while he worked, he laughed uproariously, he often talked too loud, he sang . . . NO, he didn't sing, he belted out, music with a voice that was nothing short of beautiful. Mr. Nitz never quit teaching. His living example of how he walked his talk, was always there for anyone who needed him, and lived his faith taught all of us. We miss you buddy, we miss you.
