Events include our annual Member Appreciation Day, Congregational Coordinator training and recognition, youth gatherings and Leadership Board meet-and-greets with our members. | Congregational Coordinator Annual Recognition Celebration | | | The Summit-Portage Leadership Board hosted a thank-you reception on Saturday November 18 for our Congregational Coordinators (former volunteer position, does not exist anymore) at Viking Vineyards in Kent. Coordinators enjoyed appetizers and desserts while tasting an assortment of wines in the beautiful lakeside Brimfield Township setting. Each Congregational Coordinator received a Holding Cross as a thank you gift for their year of service to their community, church and our chapter. |

| Meal or No Meal Youth Food Drive against Hunger | | | This past autumn the Thrivent Financial Summit-Portage Chapter sponsored a chapter wide youth food drive to help fill the empty cupboards of the less fortunate in our counties during the holidays. |

| Chapter Election and LutherFest | | | On October 1, we partnered with Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Downtown Akron as a sponsor of their 3rd annual LutherFest, an Oktoberfest-like celebration. Our chapter held its annual election at LutherFest. Chapter board members answered questions, passed out caramel corn and ballots. |

| Fall Congregational Coordinator Gathering | | | On September 16, Congregational Coordinators (former volunteer position, does not exist anymore) gathered for an informative day at the Akron-Summit County Main Library. The agenda was filled with how-to sessions and information about Feed Ohio and Meal or No Meal. Coordinators participated in a hands-on service activity, Books for Babies. This program of the Friends of the Library distributes informational packets and books on infant care to new mothers in Akron area hospitals. |

| Annual Member Appreciation Day | | | Our chapter returned to the Akron Zoo on Saturday July 21 for a day of fun and fellowship. Families began their day at the zoo with a picnic box lunch and entertainment by The Ohio State Pap Band. Leadership Board members and Financial Reps helped with the day. The Youth Group from Tallmadge Lutheran Church assembled and distributed the box lunches. Children enjoyed our private Animal Encounter with a zoo volunteer. |
