North Washington County Chapter
HISTORY OF THE WASHINGTON COUNTY FISH FRY

Back in 2002, Merle Pamperin and Michael Senkbeil (agents for AAL) met with volunteers from over 20 Lutheran churches in Washington County.

THE GOAL:

To develop an Annual Signature Event in Washington County which would promote volunteerism, fellowship and the opportunity to raise funds for a 501-C3 non-profit organization.

THE REWARD:

Recipients of the fundraisers have been supplemented at an average of $12,000 from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Past Year Recipients Include:

2002 Samaritan Health Center

A nursing home facility in West Bend.

2003 Threshold Incorporated
Our central mission is to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives through the provision of services that promote employability, independence and full community inclusion.

2004 Albrecht Free Clinic
A facility where individuals and families who can not afford primary health care are seen by area doctors and nurses who volunteer their time.

2005 Kathy Hospice

Provides a peaceful and pain-free environment for individuals who are nearing the end of life.

2006 Citizens Advocacy

Citizen Advocacy is an independent, non-profit organization that creates and supports one-on-one relationships between volunteer advocates and people with developmental disabilities.

2007 West Bend Dance Troupe

The Dance-Tumbling Troupe is a one of a kind performance organization that provides the girls the opportunity to greatly improve their gymnastics and performance skills, have a chance to travel, spend time with “older” role models and make lasting friendships.

2008 Rides and Reins

Rides and Reins Therapeutic Riding Center is a community-oriented organization and their goal is to provide physically, mentally and emotionally challenged individuals an opportunity for emotional and physical growth through horsemanship.

2009 Unity Club of West Bend

A meeting place for healthy alternative social needs for people in recovery in alcoholism and drug addiction.

2011 Support the Troops

For packaging and shipping Care Packages to military troops overseas.
