East Cass County Chapter

Welcome
...to the East Cass County Chapter Web site! It's great to have you here. Our chapter covers the Eastern part of Cass County, which includes the cities of Fargo, West Fargo, and Harwood.

Our chapter works with the Care in Communities program to provide supplemental grant money for fund-raisers or hands-on-service activities for families and individuals in need, and for qualified non-profit organizations.

* CARE IN COMMUNITIES GUIDELINES-

*Who is eligible to apply?
• A community service team on behalf of individuals or families may apply for funding up to $5,000.
• Any non-profit organization that is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code may apply for funding from $100 to $1,600.
• Amount of funding granted is dependent upon the number of volunteers involved, publicity efforts and total amount of project.

*What is the application criteria?
1. Community service teams need to involve a minimum of six (6) separate Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Member Households in the planning or event.

2. The Request for Funding Questionnaire must be completed in its entirety and be reviewed at least four weeks before the planned event. The Chapter Board meets the first Monday of the month (unless it falls on a holiday) – therefore, to ensure this timetable is met, please submit your requests the month prior to the month of your event. Please have your applications postmarked by the 25th of the month preceding the monthly Chapter Board meeting. (Example: your event will be held in April, so you would need to submit the application for board review at the March meeting which means it would be postmarked February 25th.) All requests received after the deadline will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

3. Each event must be publicized throughout Fargo and East Cass County. Examples and a full explanation of publicity plans must be included in the application information. Your publicity must include the wording “Supplemental funding provided by members of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.”

4. All locally raised funds must be deposited into the East Cass County Chapter checking account (minus any expenses) to receive the supplemental funding.

*How do we apply for assistance?
1. Complete the Request for Funding Questionnaire in its entirety telling the chapter about the project.
2. If your project is a Hands-on Service Activity and upfront funding is required, complete the Request for Pre-funding Hands-On Service Activity form in its entirety, telling the chapter about the project.
3. Incomplete forms, failure to provide adequate explanation of the project and publicity plans, or requests not submitted within the required timeframe may result in denial of funding.
4. Contact any East Cass County Chapter Board member to receive an application packet as soon as the event is planned.
5. Send application information, postmarked by the 25th to: East Cass County Chapter Board

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
PO Box 827
Fargo, ND 58107-0827

*What happens next?
• Your application will be reviewed at the next monthly East Cass County Chapter Board meeting.
• The person from whom you received the application packet will contact the Community Service Team Contact Person to inform them of the board’s decision, and a follow-up letter will also be sent.

-Fundraising Projects

3. Collect Funding.
4. After your event has taken place, complete in the entirety the Report for Funding Activity Results and the Permission to Disclose Information forms.
