   UPCOMING EVENTS

Chapter Picnic: The date of this year's annual Western Wayne County Chapter picnic will be Sat., Aug. 11, 2012. The time of the picnic will run from noon until 3:00 PM. Registration will be from 11:30 till noon with lunch following. Our picnic site will be the same as in the past - Garden City Park - large pavilion (northeast corner of Cherry Hill and Merriman). A postcard reminder and RSVP information will follow.


We need you (yes, YOU!)
Imagine yourself as part of a group of caring people with the opportunity to decide how best to use funding that benefits people in need and your community. Imagine being able to increase the impact that money has through community involvement, awareness, additional funds raised and the caring work of many hands. Chapter leaders with the Western Wayne County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans do just that with the Care Abounds in Communities® program!

Our Chapter just held its annual leadership elections, electing a full leadership board. However, we still have several open optional elected positions and we are seeking volunteers to fill them. The only requirements are: being a Thrivent Financial member; a desire to help people; and five to 15 hours per month volunteer time (depending on the position). Required elected positions:

• President: Provides leadership to the board.
• Vice President: Provides leadership in the absence of the president. Also leads the nomination process and serves as legislative contact for the chapter.
• Records Director: Maintains accurate and up-to-date records, planning calendars, and meeting minutes; completes necessary nonfinancial reports. Internet access is required.
• Financial Director: Oversees the financial activity of the chapter. Internet access is required.
• Congregational Service Team Director: Encourages member engagement through formation of service teams in congregational settings.

• Youth Director
