Annual member picnic was held in Askov and Mora August 14, 15. By order of the chapter officers the weather for both nights was beautiful. |

Member Picnic |

On Monday August 14 at Askov and on Tuesday August 15 at Mora members enjoyed a potluck picnic sponsored by the Kanabec Pine chapter. It turned out to be a beautiful evening with low humidity and temperatures in the seventies.
After a wonderful dinner there were prizes awarded at each picnic, prizes offered were cash and merchandize. A "Grand Prize" of a digital camera and photo printer was given at each picnic.

The chapter was able to sponsor a picnic through funds provided through Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. It is the reasonability of each chapter to determine the best way to use the funds to operate business of the chapter. It was the choice of the Kanabec Pine chapter to invite all members to a picnic. Potluck was chosen because of a couple reasons with over three thousand members of the chapter it was difficult to determine the number of attendees. The second reason the shared dish style meal was selected the everyone knows homemade dishes are always the best. |
After dinner a drawing for prizes that would be awarded to the people in crowd. Each person was given a numbered ticket the person then went to the magic board to choose their own prize from identical index cards turning over the card exposed the prize. There were sixty prizes given at each picnic. |

The picnics are fund to plan; it is an enjoyable occasion for everyone that attends. During 2006 the number attending was over 200. This is the third annual picnic for the chapter the number of people that attend increases every year. With just 70 participating in 2004 to a crowd of 204 in 2006. |
