2009 Annual Report

During 2009 the Chapter meetings were held at Messiah on the 4th Tuesday of each month. Chapter officers were: Eldon Verman – President (Messiah), Lily Jane Kirchhoff – Vice President (Ascension), Diana Pumphrey – Recorder (Ascension), Joel Boettcher – Financial Director (Messiah), and Jeanne Carey – Congregational Service Team Director (St. Paul). The following congregations are members the Northern Jackson County Thrivent Chapter: Ascension, Blue Ridge Trinity, Children’s Memorial, Fountain of Hope, Messiah, Our Redeemer and St. Paul. Messiah’s Congregational Coordinators for 2009 were Irene Largent, Sharon Meyer, and Linda Verman.

Through “Care Abounds in Communities” funds the Chapter was able to assist with the following activities: Gloria Mengel Benefit Dinner, Lenten Dinner – Messiah LWML, Santa-Cali-Gon Race and Trivia Night and Auction – Messiah Lutheran School, Messiah Youth fundraisers, MLM Spring Fling, Peace Lutheran Alaska VBS, Martin Luther Academy Auction, BS 282 Pancake Breakfast, Heit’s Point Outdoor Festival, Blue Ridge Trinity Rummage Sale, Peace LWML Craft Sale for Beautiful Savior Home, and Shepherd’s Center Book sale.

The Chapter also provided funds for officer training, Missouri District Senior High Youth Gathering, LUMA Summer Intern, Messiah Confirmation Reception, and Food for Habitat for Humanity volunteers. They purchased food for food pantries at Messiah, Our Redeemer and Lutheran Mission of the Good Shepherd as well as office supplies and food for Mother’s Refuge.

Officers for 2010 are: Linda Verman – President (Messiah), Lily Jane Kirchhoff – Vice President (Ascension), Diana Pumphrey – Recorder (Ascension), David Domsch – Financial Director (Timothy), Cindy Miller – Community Service Team Director (Ascension), Jeanne Carey – Director of Congregational Advocates (St. Paul) and Sally Sugg – Special Advisor (Messiah).

The meetings will be the 4th Tuesday of each month at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church beginning at 7:00 p.m.
