Joint Chapter Picnic and Baseball Game
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans hosted a food-fun-fellowship evening Saturday, May 9th at Faith Lutheran Church in Kinston, NC, for the Neuse River and Crystal Coast Chapters. Over 100 friends thoroughly enjoyed a BBQ
with hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, and all the “fixins,” followed by ice cream with any topping you could possibly want.
Steve Molen, Thrivent Southeast Regional Manager, gave a brief (20 min.) informative talk on the economy and how super well Thrivent is doing in the midst of it. And the
cost of this feast and ballgame? Just bringing some canned goods for the local food kitchen that serves the needy was the ticket to this fun event.
After stuffing ourselves, leftovers were delivered to the local homeless shelter and we set off to watch the Kinston Indians play the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Thrivent provided each of us with bright yellow tee-shirts and matching caps. We had a section all to ourselves and were introduced during an inning break giving us a chance to stand up and scream. It was a great game that made the evening perfect with a 5-4 win for our Kinston home team.
A great big thanks to the women of Faith Lutheran for their assistance and cleanup, to Dave English, our Rep. and to Cory English and Roland Schweizer, our chefs. A really good time was had by all!
