East Rowan Chapter
Beverly Smith, Chapter President

Cc: Barry Ritchie – Thrivent Builds Specialist

Dear Beverly and Barry:

Congratulations! We are happy to inform you that Thrivent Builds Homes will team with you to build one home in your community. The overall quality of applications we received was high, and the selection process was difficult. You can be proud of the work you have already done and the direction you are headed in making your project a success.

Funding through Thrivent Builds Homes comes with the responsibility of following all reporting requirements, complying with applicable federal regulations, and meeting your house-building and fundraising goals. It is also expected that one or more Thrivent Builds Chapter Specialists will be identified and congregational support will be attained. We look forward to working with you to achieve these objectives.

The Thrivent Builds Homes resource kit is available online at http://www.thriventbuilds.com/resources/type/programguides.html.
Thrivent Builds Homes resource kit documents have also been created for Congregational Champions.

To gain the greatest impact, we would like all Thrivent Builds Homes participants to announce their planned 2012 homes starting in December. The Lutheran Engagement Team (LET) contact will be working with the Habitat for Humanity affiliates in your Thrivent Financial for Lutherans region to plan and coordinate our public announcement.

If members of your chapter and congregations are looking for additional ways to be involved with Thrivent Builds, you may wish to encourage them to participate in Thrivent Builds Worldwide.

Thrivent Builds Worldwide is a program of short-term (one- to three-week) international and domestic working trips—including trips to build complete communities El Salvador—for groups to build Habitat houses in partnership with families facing critical housing needs. For more information, visit http://www.thriventbuilds.com/worldwide.

The support of your chapter and the Lutheran congregations in your area are an integral part of the success of the Thrivent Builds Homes program. We are excited to have you and your chapter join us in this special initiative to put an end to substandard housing, and we look forward to working with you. Together we can make a difference not just in the lives of the families we assist, but also in the lives of all those involved in this worthwhile project.

Sincerely,

Linda G. Hill Gib Edson
