LUTHERAN CHURCH OF RECONCILIATION is doing in-gathering of food for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard which is a food pantry on N 5th street in downtown Wilmington. When you do your shopping, buy a few extra cans or boxes of food for the pantry. This will take place at Porter's Neck Harris Teater Store.Cape Fear River Chapter is supporting the Agape Memorial Golf Tournament which will raise funds for Agape+Kure Beach Ministries. Two community events recently held were raising funds to help an individual with major medical bills from cancer treatment and surgery. A Poker Tournament and Pig Pickin were held to raise this money. They hoped to raise $4500. Kure Memorial is holding a FOOD Raiser for Federal Point Help Center. They anticipate raising $1500 of food for this center. Saint Peter is selling Pumpkin Bread in November to raise money for the local Food Pantry in Southport. They are hoping to sell enough bread to bring in $2000 for the pantry. Some other community churches are participating with this effort.. | |
