LUTHERAN CHURCH OF RECONCILIATION is ingathering food for Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard which is a food pantry on N 5th street in downtown Wilmington. On May 8 and 9 they will collect food in a container in front of the Harris Teeter Supermarket at Porters Neck. When you do your shopping, buy a few extra cans or boxes of food for the pantry.The ST MATTHEW’S LUTHERAN CHURCH Men’s group is holding a “Pig Pickin” on June 6th for a high school girl in the church who is seriously ill and the family has used up all their insurance allotment. Miss Hillary is a student at Laney High School and in need of all the help that this community can give. Come on out for this pig–pickin with trimmings and support the Men’s effort and this young woman’s family. They are hoping to raise $6000. Call the church for further details.
