HI Eastern Nassau Chapter Board Members,Wow! Long Island Lutheran’s Haiti Meal Packing Event on April 7 – 9 was great! We were overwhelmed by the excitement and engagement of our students, faculty, parents, and those from other organizations who joined us. In the end, we surpassed our original goal and packaged 300,672 meals…enough to feed over 800 children for an entire year. These meals are currently on their way to Haiti where they will be delivered to the Village of Hope School and Clinic near Port au Prince, an official feeding site that will prepare and serve the food to hungry children each day. As originally planned, a portion of the meals stayed on Long Island to be distributed by Lutheran Social Services at their food pantry in Uniondale.
We are very thankful for your encouragement in this epic servant project at our school through your support last year! We would not have been nearly as successful without friends like you. I am sending along the attached video so you can get a taste of what the event was like.
Those involved were excited by the hands-on opportunity afforded to every student at our school and the phenomenal result of 300, 672 meals packaged. Because of this, we are making plans to pack meals again in 2012. If we are successful in making this happen again next year, we would love to have you join in the effort again. It was unbelievable. I hope the attached video will allow you a glimpse of this engaging and important servant effort.
Thanks again for your assistance. We would not have been as successful without your involvement!
