What actions take place through Zion? Women quilt to give comfort to the needy in war and disaster through Lutheran World Relief. We give to Lutheran Disater Response for Domestic needs, Lutheran Services of Florida and Lutheran Services of America the nations' largest not-for profit charitable network sponsored by American most of America's 8 million Lutherans (bigger than even Catholic Charities that represent 90 million US Catholics); Lutheran Hunger Appeal and local food banks, individual families in need of food, clothing and shelter have been assisted. Of course, like all human organizations, some do the bulk of the work and some do little to help, but we hope to get everyone involved in the fun. Communities we touch through personal efforts and are members of this community include but are not limited to: African, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, and European cultures gay, straight, male, female, poor, middle class and rich. |
