Clara Christine Aslagson was born on July 23, 1918, to Andrew and Esther (Johnson) Aslagson in Holmes City, Minnesota. Clara was confirmed at the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church and graduated from Holmes City School.Clara was united in marriage to Roger W. Sharp in Farwell. The couple made their home in Carlos and later moved to Alexandria with their three children. She enjoyed homemaking, gardening, family get-togethers and visitors for coffee and home baked treats.
Clara died on Thursday, September 19, 2002 at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; parents; granddaughter, Julie Shinabarger; three sisters: Anna Iacono, Elsie Soder and Ethel Davis; and two brothers: Robert and Walter.
Clara is survived by her son: Wayne Sharp of Minneapolis; daughters: Jayne (Mike) Wiese of Sauk Rapids; Becky (Ted) Shinabarger of Alexandria; daughter-in-law: Deann Ebert of Nisswa; grandchildren: Susan Sharp, Brian Shinabarger, Troy Wiese, Tammy (Wayne) Hurley, Tara Wiese; great-granddaughters: DeAnna Hurley and Krystene Wiese; brother: Gordon (Laverne) Aslagson of Alexandria; sisters: Gladys Anderson of Lowry; Helen Bjorklund of New London, Iowa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: William and Grace Sharp of Alexandria; Bud Brechbiel of Osakis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 25, 2002, 2:30 p.m. at Petermeier’s Alexandria Funeral Care Chapel with Reverend Russell Osterberg officiating.
Pallbearers were Greg Sharp, Carroll Anderson Andy Aslagson, Kermit Anderson, Jim Detrick and Leslie Anderson.
Interment was at the Carlos Prairie Cemetery in Carlos. Services were directed by Petermeier’s Alexandria Funeral Care and Cremation Services.
