Robert D. Northway, III was born March 6, 1969 in Watertown, South Dakota, the son of Robert and Mary (Finley) Northway. Bob attended school in Cold Spring and Alexandria. He participated in 4-H and Boy Scouts. He graduated from high school in Plainview. In high school Bob was a state champion wrestler. He attended vocational school in Wadena and Alexandria. He owned and operated Northway Construction in St. Cloud. Bob was joined in marriage to Sandra Wollin on August 1, 1992 at Leaf Valley. The couple made their home in Richmond.Bob enjoyed hockey with his son, hunted and fished, and he loved to go camping. Time spent on and in the water with his children was special. Bob was a devoted father and husband.
Bob died September 4, 2000 in St. Martin. His grandparents preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Sandra of Richmond; two children, Robert Corey Northway, IV and Alexandra June Northway, both of Richmond; his father, Robert (Norleen) Northway of Alexandria; his mother, Mary Jean (Kenneth) Anderson of Arizona City, Arizona; one brother, Brian Northway of Richmond; and two sisters, Barbara Northway of Cold Spring and Bonita Jenson of Ashby.
A funeral service was held on September 8, 2000 at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Leaf Valley with Reverend Reynold Petersen officiating. Irma Brockberg provided music. Interment was in the Carlos Prairie Cemetery in Carlos.
Pallbearers were Michael Barsness, Arthur Miller, Dennis Wollin, Tom Salto, Jeff Carner and Evan Jones. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Northway, Scott Wollin, Steve Wollin and Ted Salto.
Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
