100th Anniversary Celebration
The 100th anniversary celebration is here! Please join us on September 18th as we celebrate our 100th birthday. We will begin the celebration with a “meet, greet, and eat” continental breakfast from 8:30 to 9:45 am in our upstairs gathering area. Bishop Wells will be with us to preside and lead our worship service and our intern, Mandy Brobst-Renaud, will assist him.
Our sanctuary will be decorated in honor of the day with balloons and banners celebrating the St. Peter presence in Hillyard. Our new banner will be hung in the sanctuary and will feature our theme verse from Romans. Following our worship, we will serve a light lunch, birthday cake and ice cream in the lower gathering hall. During the luncheon we will share a multi-media presentation showcasing St. Peter—past and present. A ‘Remember When’ area will be set-up in the lower gathering hall to display the history of St. Peter and to help us as we take a walk down memory lane.
We know that it will be a day of reminiscing, remembering, rejoicing and renewing! We will have ‘birthday churches’ on our tables during the luncheon. We are inviting each of you to bring your ‘birthday pennies’ to help fill the little wooden churches. If you don’t know what the birthday church or birthday pennies are, just ask a Sunday School teacher or student! We ask that you keep our congregation in your prayers as we prepare to celebrate this miraculous milestone!
Parsonage Update
Thank you…thank you…thank you! We would like to thank everyone who helped make the parsonage a home for our intern and her husband. We especially appreciate those who helped with packing, moving, cleaning, painting, repairing, shopping and furnishing. Take a moment to stop by and check out the pictures that are posted in the coffee area. The home looks beautiful! It will be a wonderful place for Mandy and Ben to live while they are here in Spokane.
Sunday School News
Rally Sunday will be on September 25th this year. Both the adult class and the Sunday School classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Rally Sunday. Mandy Brobst-Renaud will lead the Adult class and all children (ages 3 to 6th grade) are invited to ‘meet up with Jesus’ in the Sunday School area. The children’s Sunday School year will begin with a recap of the lessons from our VBS. We are planning to have lots of fun with stories, games, and crafts. Please plan to come, learn, and have fun!
