“St. Paul, an outreach minded congregation, proactively provides a supportive and friendly environment emphasizing Christian worship, education, and caring fellowship for all God’s people.”

Pastor's Corner
Dear Members of St. Paul,

I cannot wait for Thanksgiving Day. Of the many blessings that God has
given to me, one such blessing that I regularly enjoy is that God has placed
me into a family that has several top notch cooks. Every Thanksgiving Day
(and in fact, any time that there is any sort of celebration) I eat very
well. But I especially love Thanksgiving. The meal, the desserts, the
whole thing is great. I cannot wait to sit down to yet another great
Thanksgiving Day meal.

But there are more reasons that just the one mentioned to look forward to
Thanksgiving Day. There is more to Thanksgiving than just a big meal.
Thanksgiving is an opportunity to consider the many gifts that God has given
over the past year and to celebrate how richly we have been blessed. God is
gracious and good. He loves us and he gives to us every good thing.

In the First Article of The Apostle’s Creed we confess faith that “God has
given me my body and soul, my eyes, ears, and all my members, my reason and
all my senses and still takes care of them. He also gives me clothing and
shoes, food and drink, house and home, wife and children, land, animals, and
all I have. He richly and daily provides me with all that I need to support
this body and life.” (Luther’s Small Catechism, Explanation to the Second
Article) If we apply this, this means for us that everything that we have
is a gift from God.

Look around you. Look at your home, the furniture in your home, the car in
your garage, the bed you sleep in, the clothes you wear, the television that
you turn on to watch your Saturday football games, the food in your
refrigerator, the occupation that pays you the money that you need to
support your life and your family. God made all of it. He designed it. He
put it together just for you. He made it for your enjoyment. He made it to
bring you happiness and joy. God created these things with you in mind. It
is his desire that you use them for your own enjoyment and in his service.

That being said there is much to be thankful for. God has given to us so
much. He has blessed us with so much. We cannot help but be thankful.
Certainly Thanksgiving is a day for celebrations with family, for eating all
of the traditional favorites that we set on our tables every year. Beyond
those external things, however, there is an underlying truth that we recall:
everything that we have is a gift given to us by a good, gracious, and
loving God.

May you have a happy Thanksgiving.

In Christ,
Pastor Schlueter

November 5
"Close, but No Cigar" Speaker: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus
There are a lot of good people in this world … wise, kind, and gentle
people … but they are lost people if they don’t know Jesus as Savior. Do
you know someone who is close to the kingdom of heaven, but not quite there?
(Mark 12:34)

November 12
"And Then What?" Speaker: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus
The woman gave all she had … and then what? Did she starve? Did she
prosper? (Mark 12:44)

"Hatred Toward Heaven" Speaker: Rev. Dr. Ken Klaus
Hatred is part of the tragic, sinful condition of humankind. But what
does it profit someone to direct his or her hatred toward heaven? (Mark 13:13)

Outreach Update and Upcoming Events
The Outreach committee will set up a table for the Marysville Christmas Walk on November 27. The walk goes from 5:00 -8:00 and our table will be inside the Loving Care Hospice office. We will be providing hot chocolate
and cookies to those who are out enjoying the walk, as well as church and school information to anyone who is interested. We’re looking for volunteers to donate hot chocolate mix, bake cookies, and help work the
table that night, so keep your eyes and ears open for the sign up sheets or just speak to any Outreach member if you are interested.
The Outreach Committee is also planning to have floats in the Marysville and Milford Center Christmas Parades again this year. The Marysville parade is on Dec. 3. The date for Milford Center is November 26th. We’re looking for several volunteers to make this a success again this year. We will be needing people to put together the goodie bags that
will be passed out (all items supplied), a tractor and wagon to pull the float, adults to walk along side of the float to hand out the bags to onlookers, any children who would want to ride on the float and throw out candy, and finally donated candy for our kids to throw. Again,
announcements and sign up sheets will be coming soon, so please think about what you might be able to donate.
Thrivent Annual Meeting
Our annual meeting will be November 19th after church. We will be serving a chicken dinner between 11:30 a.m. and noon. Election will take place after dinner, and then we will play bingo for prizes. There will be a sign-up sheet in the narthex to let us know how many to prepare for. We are still accepting names to be put on the ballot. Please let Harold Burns know if you are willing to have your name on the ballot.
November Jobs
Your help is very much appreciated!! Every job that is done for the church is important. If you are unable to be in church on a Sunday you have been assigned a “job”, please find a replacement. Thank you!
