Notes on Mark Chapter Sixteen
Read verse 1. Mark mentions these names, because they are they same people who saw that Jesus had died. They brought spices because on the day that Jesus died, there was not enough time to complete the preparation of his body.

Read 2 to 4. The stone was so large that even all those women could not move it.

Read verse 5. Matthew 28:5 tells us that this man was an angel.

Read 6 to 8. Matthew 28:8 tells us that they ran straight to tell the disciples, and didn't tell anyone else on the way. Why were they afraid? Maybe because they had just heard something that was impossible: a person had come back from the dead.

Read 9 to 11. This place gives more details about Mary, one of the ones who saw Jesus and told the disciples about what had happened. Read Matthew 28:9 10.

Read verses 12 and 13. This complete story is in Luke 24:13 35.

Read 14. Some of the disciples had heard the report from the women, but they couldn't believe it. They should have believed it, because Jesus had told them he would rise from the dead (Mark 10:33 34).

Read 15. We tell others about Jesus because Jesus commanded us to do so.

Read 16. The only way to have a relationship with God is to accept Jesus. God will forgive your sins, and you can live with God forever. You can escape the punishment that you should receive because you have disobeyed God.

Read 17. These things came true in the Book of Acts:
miracles: Acts 3:6 8; Acts 5:16;
drive out demons: Acts 8:7
speak in unknown languages: Acts 2:4

Read 18. An example where Jesus protected someone from a poison snake is found in Acts 28:1 6.

Read 19 and 20. Details about Jesus going up, away from the earth, are found in Acts 1:9 11.

Jesus rose from the dead, so we know: He is the Lord. Romans 1:4 He fulfilled Old Testament prophecy that the Messiah will rise from the dead: Isaiah 53:10 12. He can cause us to rise from the dead: I Corinthians 15:51 52
