This photo was taken shortly before we left Jamestown for Rock Island. Because of a severe hearing loss, Dad Nystrom had to give up the active ministry and took a position at the Augustana Book Concern in Rock Island.
Dad was Secretary of Literature. He wrote devotional books and edited the manuscrips for publication. |

Messiah Lutheran Church was located on the campus of Bethany College of the Swedish
Augustana synod. From here Dad Nystrom was called to be minister of First Lutheran Church in Jamestown, New York. Both my brother Dan and I were born in Jamestown.
The only other person, that I know of, who was born in Jamestown was Lucille Ball. |

My first trip overseas. WWII.
The tall fellow with the pipe is Bill Jolley. He is from St. Louis.
From here we were shipped to replace the 82nd Airborne in the Battle of the Bulge.
