Missionary Ridge Camp #63, SUVCW
Missionary Ridge Camp of the SUVCW meets the second Saturday at 2:00 P.M. monthly or as called at Ascension Lutheran Church, East Ridge. It is a local chapter of male descendents of the Grand Army of the Republic. It is also the Headquarters for the 7th Military District of the Sons of Veteran Reserve SUVCW. Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery
Chattanooga Confederate Cemetery is located just off the UTC campus and adjacent to both Citizen's Cemetery and the Jewish Cemetery. SUVCW #63 and SCV #3 collaborated here to memorialize two Union POWs who died in a local hospital and the remains of an "Unknown Soldier" reinterred on 4/20-21/01. The Union POWs are memorialized with VA markers and an American flag; they are Edward J. Wentworth (listed incorrectly for over a century as "E. J. Winbroot") of Co.F, 19th MI Infantry (died April, 1863) and Louis Miller who is simply noted as "6th Federal."
Civil War Photography
Frank Harned's most active hobby is civil war photography. He has completely outfitted a photographer's studio true to the mid 19th century and often travels to reenactments for living history displays and demonstrations. Except when the weather is very hot, his photographs cannot be distinguished from originals. We are two of about twenty wet plate photographers in the United States that use the same method and chemicals as the 1850 photographer. Our lens is an 1859 Jamin Darlot. The camera is a copy of the Anthony. One of the main differences with my camera and the camera used in the Civil War it is a full plate.I am interested in talking with people who are interested in this type of photography.We will be adding a picture gallery here in the near future.
