The logo above is that of Lutheran Services in Tennessee for which J. Sims worked 10.5 years. It was designed by him....the heart of the Luther seal set on a TN dogwood blossum.
Purpose:
The purpose of this web site in 2002 was to provide an internet base for communications among Lutherans and others who were interested in the services of LST as supervised by myself and other management staff. It will continue to be maintained as a personal site.
Who Is John Sims?
I am a native born Georgian who has chosen to adopt Tennessee as "home." I am a "baby boomer" whose education includes a BA with honors from Oglethorpe University, Atlanta (where I was Chi Phi), and an MRE from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, Columbia. I have been married (to one beautiful lady, Phyllis) for 38 years as of 9-05-2008. I was ordained into the Lutheran Church in America on June 4,1972, and have served in various capacities since. Among calls before LST (1994) were service as Assistant to the Bishop, SE Synod LCA, DWME missionary to Brussels, Belgium, parish pastor of three Georgia congregations, and interim pastor of another four LCA congregations in Georgia and Mississippi. Among my current interests are Atlanta Braves baseball, science fiction, genealogy, Luther geschichte, and Southern heritage studies including Lutheranism and WBTS living history. Officially retiring from the active roster 01-01-03, I have now also retired from the work force effective in August 2008.
Web Site Development Assistance:
As time permits, I am still happy to help any church-related or "worthy" non-profit develop a web site at Lutherans Online. I have "built" 48 web sites at Lutherans Online and assisted with the development of several others. About 30 of them are still up and most can be found in the Tennessee state listing or in connection with Lutheran Disaster Response. They range from "mirror sites" for congregations to long term recovery groups to heritage organizations and a pet placement center. I apologize that some people who have taken over the administration of various sites have allowed them to become seriously outdated. Please contact me for assistance as directed below.
