| | ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CARD WRITING NIGHT |

| | |
The Holiday Season was starting. It was time for the annual Holiday Card writing. This is always done during the Troop meeting the day after Thanksging Day.All members of the Troop were asked to think of at least one person they wanted a Troop Holiday Card to be sent. So the Scout attending sent an average of two Cards each to family, Friends and Others. Included in the Cards sent wee ones to the President, Vice-President, Senators, U.S. Representative and friends of Scouting. Although we don't expect returns for this Good Turn, we sort of hope we do get at least one. . |

| | ANNUAL TURKEY ROAST CAMPOUT TO QUAIL HILL |
| | Current Camp Patch |
November 15th & 16th was the Annual Turkey Roast Campout. The place was Quail Hill Scout Camp in Manalapan, New Jersey. This is the most popular weekend of the season and was attend by a majority of the Scouts of the Troop.Troop 350 is proud of our annual Thanksgiving holiday campout. For over 25 years the Troop has been fixing a full Turkey Dinner over an open fire for those attending. Over the years we've added courses such as Stuffing, Dutch Oven baked desserts such as pies, Garlic Bread and Corn-on-the-Cob. There were seven Scouts and three members of the Troop Committee as adult leadership. This year we were in tents again after the last few in one of the Shelters. Our campsite was #1A in the far southwest corner of the Camp. The weather was very breezy and cold on Saturday but Sunday was much calmer and a little warmer. Inexperience was something that was obvious from the Scouts attending - most were still new. Althought there were things to learn about camping in November and a lack of experience in doing chores it was a good time spent in the wilds of New Jersey. As always, the Turcky feast was a highlight and an eye-opener. It is certain that when this time comes next year there will be Scouts and Scouters ready to go once again. . |

Early on Sunday, Nov. 2nd, our own Troop Committee member, David Coleman, made his way to Staten Island. That's where he registered and lined-up for the start of the annual New York City Marathon. That's right, Troop 350 was there! It was a mostly sunny day with the temperature in the low 60's. A little warmer than really comfortable, but acceptable at the start of the race. With the BANG from the starting cannon the mass of humanity, including David Coleman, was off at about 10:08. David passed the St. Jacobi Troop Meeting Room and his neighborhood about 43 minutes later. He was cheered on by the residents of Sunset Park including our Troop. We are proud that he has been a participant in the NYC Marathon for the past several years, Go Dave, go! . |

| | First Fall Campout - October 2003 to Alpine Scout Camp |
 . . | | |
October 11th & 12th the Troop with seven Scouts and four adult leaders went to Alpine Scout Camp in Alpine, NJ for its first weekend campout of the new season. Alpine is one of the camps owned by our local Scout Council. In the Scoutmaster's absence the trip was ablely led by the Assistant Scoutmaster, Sergio Ferraro. He was assisted by three members of the Troop Committee and of course the Senior Patrol Leader, Marco Ferraro. For the most part the weather cooperated. However, since the troop was camping it had to rain, and it did a little Sunday morning. Scouts had time for fun and some advancement as well. It was a good weekend that for some ended too soon. The Scouts are now back home. Now they are thinking of the next trip which is the famous Turkey Roast in November to Quail Hill Scout Camp. |

| | TROOP 350 IS AT SUMMER CAMP |
| . The new CSP for the year . | |
. . Troop 350 has been at Summer Camp during the week of July 27th to August 3rd. We were in Camp Aguehonga of The Ten Mile River Scout Camps Reservation near Narrowsburg, New York.Originally, we were to be in Site #9 at Camp Aquehonga. However, three days before camp we received a call from Mr. John Farrell of Troop 350 of St. Barnards R.C, Church in Brooklyn asking if we could help them with a leadership problem. They were to have only one leader for their second week, our first. So we agreed to move into their site #2A instead of our own. Also with a similar problems was Troop 296 of St. Patrick's R.C. Church of the Fort Hamilton area. So they moved from Site 2B to 2A. So for the week there were three Troops sharing Site 2A. And we were able to do a Good Turn and help two other unit stay in camp. The weather started wet and humid on Sunday but quickly dried out for four really nice days. Through thursday the temperature was in the mid 70's to low 80's during the day. At night is was down into the upper 50's. Nice sleeping weather. The Scouts attending were Adam Abdelaziz, Darren Thomas and Ruben Veliz. The adults were Juan Ferraro, Walter Forst and Brandon yuen for Wednesday afternoon into Fiday afternoon. The Scouts were involved in Merit Badges during the day and camp programs in the evenings. So far a pretty good week even though there were only three Scouts. One note: Sergio Ferraro our Assistant Scoutmaster was on Staff as the Canoe Base Director; Marco Ferraro, a Scout was a counselor at Camp Aquehonga; and, Jeffrey Maung a Scout was a C.I.T. at Camp Aquehonga. We look forward to finishing the week successfully and return in 2004 to our usual Site #9. .. |

| | JUNE OVERNIGHT TO ALPINE |
| | |
With the change to the Calendar brought on by events in the Troop membership this winter into Spring we have had some successes. The June Overnight to Camp Alpine is one of those successes for the Troop.Overnights this season have not been happening at the rate we usually have them. So we were determined that the reschedule trip the first weekend of June would come off well. The weather was not cooperative though. It was planned to camp at Alpine. We were to be in tents. At the start of the week the weather looked okay, not great, but okay. By Friday we had problems with having enough leadership, it was now forcast to rain heavily on Saturday, plans were not coming together on the schedule, equipment and other things. But we were determined to fix every probelm that came up. We did! The lack of leadership was solved with the generousity of a parent who agreed to come along as a leader. Adjustments to the available transportation just fit everyone. The Camp had a Cabin available, which we asked for and was given to us to use. Well, we managed to fix each hurdle as it came up. Six Scouts and a Webelos guest with two leaders stayed at the Slater Cabin. The rain came down and we were fairly dry. We managed to have hot meals with more generous help. In all it was a weekend that happened. It was need to happen for the future of the Troop. Now we have Scouts looking forward to the next season, the next overnight. . |

| | FIRST BIKE RIDE DAY ACTIVITY OF 2003 |
| | |
Saturday, March 22nd was to be the first Bike Ride Day Activity of this year. But it didn't happen. It was rescheduled for April 19th. This time it came off. The start was early, the destination was Far Rockaway and it's Boardwalk. Two Leaders and three scouts. The day turned out fine even though the early forecasters were for cloudy and damp. But with this being the first trip the destination of Far Rockaway just didn't come off this early in the sason. So we settled for Plum Beach. Considerering the experience of the Scouts that was pretty good anyway. It was doubtful that they had heard of Plum Beach before getthing there so it was something new. With practice longer trips will be possible in the furture. . |

| | A SPECIAL GATHERING |

| Gathered to celebrate |
|
On Friday, March 7th, a rescheduled gathering of the current membership and friends was held. The event was the 75th Anniversary celebration of the granting of the Troop's first Charter to operate. It was held at the Bridgeview Diner in Bay Ridge. It was amazing that it was even held. The Troop is only one Patrol in size and that was before four Scouts transfered to the Troop at St. Michael's four weeks ago. Now we have only a few Scouts but a whole group of Adult Leaders. All the members are busy, and just getting them together in any number is also an amazing feat. But we were there. Scouts Marco Ferraro and Adam Abdelaziz. The members of the Troop's Committee present were Dave Fairhurst, David Coleman, Juan Ferraro and Javier Ferraro. Troop Leaders Walter Forst, and Sergio Ferraro. There were a few friends as well: Juan's wife, Javier's girlfriend and Adam's parents and brother. So we did manage to fill a large table at the Diner. Now this was not your typical 75th Anniversary celebration. It was in fact, very, very low keyed. We gathered, ordered and ate our meal, and then spent time to just talk and socialize. We spent just over two, maybe two and a half hours there. It was a good evening's gathering in place of the regular Troop meeting. We hope next season's Anniversary event will be back at the meeting room and will be our regular Pot Luck Dinner with Scouts, their families and our Adult Leaders. . |
