| HOLIDAY PARTY ENDS YEAR |

| | |
The last Friday Troop meeting of 2005 was the annual Holiday Party meeting. Most of the active Scouts were in attendance at the Troop meeting. As is traditional the Troop meeting started as usual, up to the time for Scout Skills. Then preparations were started for the arrival of the Pizza and snacks. After the Pizza and soda the grab bag gift exchange took place and each Scout was given tow gifts from the Troop: A Scout Sign Zipper pull and a BSA Lanyard for keys. Those in attendance had a nice time and went home full of Pizza and a little something early for Christmas. . |

| HOLIDAY CARD TRADITION BARELY SURVIVES |
Michael Melh carries on
. The annual tradition of the Troop sending Christmas Cards barely carried on this year. Michael Mehl, a new Scout this fall, was the only Scout in attendance the day after Thanksgiving when the Troop cards were prepared. He mad up in quantity on his own for the lack of other Scouts. The Scoutmaster used the group photo from the fall Photo Night to make a simple Troop Greeting Card in December that was sent to the Troop members families as well. This may replace the store bought cards in future years. . |

| ANNUAL TURKEY ROAST CAMPOUT AT QUAIL HILL |

|
|
|
November 19th and 20th was the weekend that we held the annual Turkey Roast Campout. It was at Quail Hill Scout Reservation in the Scout Lodge.Quail Hill Scout Reservation is in Manalapan, NJ which is Monmouth County. The Troop has been using Quail Hill for is annual Turkey Roast for many years. This special campout started decades ago and for a number of years was held at Sanita Hills Scout Camp near Pawling, NY before the camp was sold off by the Greater New York Councils. Once Sanita Hills was sold we tried Quail Hill and found it suitable as a new location for this special camping trip. The camp has mostly tent campsites. There are two cabins and a leanto site as well. It has a small Lake and an OA site, Chapel and Training Lodge. Our Turkey Roast is probable one of the most popular of weekend trips on the Troop schedule. A full Turkey Dinner roasted over and open fire with all the trimmings and a Dutch oven dessert. Attending was Michael Mehl, Adam Abdelaziz, Sammy Abdelaziz, Darren Thomas, Raymy Vasquez and Ruben Veliz all Scouts from the Troop. The adults along this year were Walter Forst and David Fairhurst. It was cold but bearable with our using the Scout Lodge. Special note though goes to Michael Mehl and Sammy Abdelaziz as they slept out in a tent in the below freezing weather. For this they get to join last years attendees in becoming members of the Quail Hill Polar Bear Club. With our small membership this year we did manage to get most of the active Scouts but only two adults. Everyone else had other commitments with the trip the weekend before Thanksgiving. . |

| HALLOWEEN GOOD TURN |
. . |
| |
For the first time Troop 350 in 2005 particpated in the "Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF" program. This is another Troop Good Turn. It was a modest but sucessful effort by the Scouts and family members of the Troop.Scouts averaged $4.42 per participant, with collected donations from 74 cents to $11.47. All those participating are to be congratuated and Thanked for the effort. There will be some children in another part of the world who would not otherwise have been protected from serious illness without the vaccines provided by our efforts. . |

| VISIT FROM TROOP 986 MEMBERS OCTOBER 7th |
Scouts come for a visit | | |
. Several members of Troop 996 from St. Michael's R.C. Church at 42nd Street and Fourth Avenue visited Troop 350 on October 7th. They came at the invitation of Mr. Juan Ferraro of our Troop Committee.Troop 998 has has had difficulty recruiting adults to support its program during the last year. As a result their program has not been as active as the Scouts wanted and needed. When Mr. Ferraro of our Troop Committee heard this he invited the Troop to come to visit us to see if they would want to combine with us to provide their Scouts with an active program. It was a good visit. The Scouts joined in and participated in the Troop meeting. The two adults who brought the Scouts visited with the Scoutmaster and talked of the two Troop's programs and what Troop 350 could offer. We invited the Scouts and adults at the close of our meeting to return and consider joining with us so they could continue in Scouting. Our Troop looks forward to seeing the interested boys returning in the coming weeks and continuing their Scouting careers with our Troop. . |

| FALL POPCORN FUND RAISER KICKED-OFF AT FALL PARENTS MEETING |
It's what's Goooood for Troop 350 . .
The night of the Fall Parent meeting was sure busy. The Fall Fundraiser was also kicked-off for the Troop. This fall the Troop is again participating in the Graeter New York Councils campaign for the sale of "tails End" Gourmet Popcorn to taise funds for Scouting. Each Scout was given the information sheet and sales signup for customers. Each Scout was asked to be as positive as is possible in making it work for the Troop. There is no minimum to be sold. There was no quota per family. There was only the reminder to do your best. The funds raised by the Troop assists in keeping the weekend camping costs down. The funds raised last year paid for the extra costs of Cabin reservations and special campouts such as the Turkey Roast. In the past it has also been used for the three day special events such as Steamtown National Historic Park, National Baseball Hall of Fame, Howe Caverns and the Iroquois Nation Museum visit in upstate New York. This year's effort was disappointing in the very low number of Scouts participating. The funds raise will only help offset one, maybe two Cabon weekends. The final results will be know by the end of the year. . |

SM Breakfast . | | |
. September 24th was the first SM Invitational Breakfast. It was again at the Americana Diner for the Troop adult Leaders and the Patrol Leaders Council. All those present were in Uniforma and had their Breakfast as the guest of the Scoutmaster. | NEW SCOUTING SEASON STARTS FOR 2005 - 2006 |
| | |
. September 9th started the New Season. We are into the 2005 - 2006 Scouting season here at Troop 350. We see this as a special season for it sets the tone for the rest of the year as those that follow. We started modestly. Half the current membership was bac the first week. We did have two new members though. Graduated Webelos Scouts from Pack 563. The second week was a little off with one less attending. We did have elections for Patrol Leader as promised. Ruben ran unopposed as Adam did not want the job again. Adam was willing to be Ruben's Assistant however, so there is some continuity. And the third meeting was a nice one. With three more Scouts returning. We had a parents meeting. The kickoff to the Fall Popcorn Fundraing drive and a Court of Honor for the Summer's Advancent. It was an active meeting that shows the promise of the coming year. And we may even grow some more. We have been contacted by a Scout Leader of Troop in northern Sunset Park area about having the few Scouts in that Troop transfer into ours. They don not have the adult support to continue. We'll see if that comes to pass. As well as the Eagle Board of Review for our Senior Patrol Leader the last Friday of September. A fairly good start this year. It's something to build on. . |

| Two Scouts and Adult at National Jamboree |
| | |
Star Scout Adam Abdelaziz, Life Scout Marco Ferraro and Troop Committee member David Coleman attended the 2006 National Jamboree this summer in Arlinngton, Virginia.Dave Coleman was the Contingent Scoutmaster for the Brooklyn Council Troop. Marco Ferraro was the Assistant Senior Patrol Leaderrr for the Troop. It was a once in a liifetime experiennce for Marco and Adaam. One experience they will never forget. The heat was tremendous but the activities were just wonderffful. There was just so much to do and not enough time to do it all. Highly recommended for any Scout who can get to go. . |

| SURPRISE LAST MINUTE TRIP TO SUMMER CAMP |

|
|
|
. Once again at the last moment four Scouts of the Troop get involved in an activity. This time it's a trip to Camp Aquehonga for a week of Summer Camp in August.Marco Ferraro, Adam Abdelaziz, Samy Abdelaziz and Ruben Veliz with the help of Troop Committeeman Juan Ferraro and parent Michelle Abdelaziz went off to Camp Aquehonga on August 7th for the Week #6 session. UPDATE: Each has earned at least two Merit Badges. Also went on the Canoe trip on Thursday of the week. No doubt they had a good time. September 23rd Court of Honor will have Awards presentations from Summer Camp. . |

|
| SUMMER ACTIVITIES BY ADULT TROOP LEADERS |
| | |
During the summer break the adult Troop Leaders were finding things to do.TCM Juan Ferraro was off to Cub Work for two sessions with about fifteen Cub Scouts and five adults. Rumor has it that ASM Sergio Ferraro went to the Florida Sea Base with a Troop he met while working at TMR. TCM David Coleman was the Contingent SM for the Brooklyn Jamboree Troop to Virginia. SM Walter managed a ride to see newly reconstructed Stillwell Ave Terminal. ASM Brandon was due to be on active duty somewhere, we'll hear when he's back. . |

| "SCOUTING FOR FOOD" 2004 - 2005 GOOD TURN |
|
|
|
. We end this Scouting season with a sad report about the Troop participation in the national Good Turn project.. Only a few members of the Troop participated. We want to Thank Ruben V., Dave F. and WalterF. for their extra effort. As a whole the couple dozen items of food collected over the course of the whole season was a disappointment. Whether we continue to try this on a monthly effort is now under review for next season. . |

| JUNE SM INVITATIONAL BREAKFAST |
David, Marco, Adam, Juan
. The Scoutmaster's Invitation for Breakfast to the leaders of Troop 350 was answered by four members. The Committee Chair, a Troop Committeeman, The Sr. Patrol Leader and a Patrol Leader shoed for Breakfast. Another Troop Committeeman stopped briefly as he was on the way to a funeral Service to be held at the same time. As required attendees were in Uniform. It was a nice hour of fellowship and a good meal. . |

| END OF THE SCOUTING SEASON JUNE 17th |
. | |
|
. The end of the 2004 - 2005 Troo[ meeting was on Friday, June 17th. As usual not a single Boy Scout was on time. The Scouts arrived five to 30 minutes late. But once they arrived we had a meeting. The evening was topped off with a little Pizza and Soda. Following the food a closing Ceremony was held where the goodbyes were said and a reminder that the new season starts Friday, Sept. 9th at 7:30pm. . |

| LAST MINUTE MAY 22nd DAY ACTIVITY |
Camp Pouch to start | | Staen Island Zoo in the afternoon |
. Two adults (David C. & Dave F.) with two Scouts (Adam A. & Ruben V.) and a Wbelos, Sammy A., were on the Day Activity on Saturday, May 22nd. We followed our plans and went to Wm. H. Pouch Scout Camp. From there they hiked to Moses Mountain and back, had Lunch and went to the Staten Island Zoo.It was a little damp during the day but not so bad that we didn't enjoy the activities. The Zoo however was having exhibits reconstructed so some things were closed. Maybe next time we'll see it all. It was a nice day out for a Troop activity. It would have been better if everyone showed up who said they wanted to go. But then, you missed the fun. Maybe next time. . |

| BOTH I (MARCO) AND ADAM THANK YOU |

| | |
. THANK YOU to those few who came out to help our Brooklyn Jamboree Contingent Troop 238 with the Fund-raiser on May 21st. You helped us raise about $1300. Although far below what we were looking for, every Dollar is a help to get us to Virginia this summer.Again, Thank you. . |

| Status of Marco's Eagle Project |

| | |
The report is in that Marco's Eagle Project to collect items for our Servicemen for an Organization in California has wrapped up. Although it started slow the first weekend it came into it's own last weekend.Although the goal was to collect the many small items and fill maybe five cartons - reports are that the goal was exceeded, in terms of cartons that is. The final count and details will be in Marco's Eagle Project despription. The California Organization has said they need things by the 15th, so Marco & others packed, repacked and shipped everything by the second week of June. A draft copy of the Eagle Service Workbook for the Eagle Application is done. Just getting things together and in order of submitting the Eagle Application. One more step towards the major goal of earning the Eagle Scout Award. . |

| MID-WINTER CABIN WEEKEND FEB 25 & 27 |
Powell Cabin in Alpine | | The group this weekend |
. The annual Mid-Winter Cabin Overnight Weekend wa a great success. The count was three Scouts [Adam, Darren, Ruben], three Webelos guests from Pack 563 [Jonathan, Samy and Randy] and three adult Leaders [Walter, Dave F. and David C.]from Troop 350. Because the Pack ran its Pinewood Derby the same weekend the Cubmaster/Troop Committee member, Juan Ferraro, could not make the Trip. The Troop was in Powell Cabin at Alpine Scout Camp in Alpine, New Jersey. The Camp is about ten miles north of the George Washington Bridge. There are over 700 acres in the Reservation for Scouts to explore. We have a great weekend weatherwise. The sun was out, but it was cold, thankfully without wind. There was about five inches of fresh snow and the sleds Dave F. brought were alot of fun. The groups explored the Pirate Ship, Fort, Mine and the Activity Center with the Science and Technology Room. There was good food including baked items from the Dutch Oven for three meals. A Peach Cobbler for Saturday Supper, Buscuits for Breakfast and humongous slices of Devils Food Cake for Lunch on Sunday. Every meal was done well and was very filling. This year we had guests, the Webelos from Pack 563. The three Webelose were invited along so they could complete a requirement for the Arrow of Light. We had a really good time with fun in the snow. Next year's Mid-Winter Overnight Cabin weekend will hopefully be as good, if not better. . |

| 2005 Family Night Held |
A few diners during the Pot Luck meal. More Photos on Photo Page... .
The first Friday of February in Troop 350 in Family Night. Even as small as we are we still held Family Night and most came.Six of the Eight Scouts showed and all together we had about 21 people attending. Certainly the smallest number, but not in the amount of enjoyment at being together. We had a Pot Luck meal where there certainly was enough to eat. A brief talk on activities of the Troop and then a closing. A Court of Honor was held to give Merit Badges and honor the Panther Patrol for its 1st Place finish in the Brooklyn Klondike Derby. A nice evening made possible by the families of the Scouts of Troop 350. The food was better than good, it was great. Their participation showed the Scouts that be a Scout is important and appreciated. . |

| Troop 350 Takes First Place at the Brooklyn Klondike Derby for 2005 |
First Place 2005 . | | Drawing of Sled similar to ours . |
The Pather Patrol of Troop 350 are WINNERS! They took FIRST PLACE in the Brooklyn KLONDIKE DERBY for 2005 which was held on the Beach at Coney Island. It was a nice winter day for a change in Brooklyn when the five members of the Pather Patrol went to Coney Island with the help of Dave, our Troop Committe Chair, in his van. Dave was also the main force behind the building of the Sledge. Another Committee Member, Juan was with them and help run a station during the event. The Scouts participating were Marco Ferraro, Adam Abdelaziz, Chris Cevallos, Raymy Vasquez and Rubin Valiz. Our Scout racked up 694 points in their award winning bid to earn First Place. It's been a number of year since the last time the Troop was in first and the Scouts should be proud for it. . |

| January Webelos Invitation Night Held |
| We had visitors on the 28th | |
January 28th the Troop invited the Webelos of Pack 563 to attend our Troop meeting. About half of the Webelos came along and participated in the Troop meeting. The meeting was hampered by a lack of heat and generally cold weather outside, so not all the Scouts attended either. But the Webelose got to participate in the games and Scoutskills of menu planning for the February Cabin Campout. We have invited the Webelos along because they are working of their Arrow of Light Badge for which a campout with a Troop is a requirement. We had a nice, if cold, evening. The Webelose all said they had a good time and looked forward to the Cabin trip and the next meeting we invite them to. . |

. On Saturday, January 8th at the Americana Diner the Scoutmaster had his Winter Invitational Breakfast.
