Music from the Organ

To fill the Sanctuary of St. Jacobi with beautiful organ music requires both a great instrument and a skilled musician....

But first, a very brief note about our first Organ in our current building.

From the building of the current Sanctuary, the St. Jacobi congregation had an Organ of limited musical output originally installed. The original Organ was replaced. About 1930 it was given to, and installed in Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield neighborhood of Staten Island, New York.

THE NEW and CURRENT SANCTUARY ORGAN

By 1929 it was decided something more appropriate to the space was needed and the funds were raised for a new Moeller Organ. Construction was done in early 1931 and on May 17, 1931 the new Organ was dedicated and called the "Memorial Organ" as most of the stops were memorialized.

Our Organist, Mr. Cryder Bankes
The pipes are housed in the upper right of the balcony when facing the rear of the Sanctuary. Mr. Cryder Bankes, our Organist not only plays for Sunday Worship but also has performed in our Healing Ministry Concert Series.
