| CHINESE NEW YEAR AT ST. JACOBI |
 Dragon Dance | |
. In the afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 19th in Friendship Hall our community continued the New Year festivities. There was Music, Dance, Food, a Raffle and other activities for the celebration.Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz, had issued a Proclamation designating Feb. 19th as the official St. Jacobi Chinese New Year Celebration Day in Brooklyn, New York! And here at St. Jacobi numerous presentations in colelbration of the New Year were made. It was a standing room only crowd of over 120 that filled the Hall. This far exceeded the plans of the organizers, especially Ms. Rosalie Siu, princple Organizer from the Culture Club here at St. Jacobi. We thank all performers, helpers and the audience for their participation to make this such a success. . |

Drs Polidi and Schmidt | |
. March 12th saw a wonderful tribute to Mozart by Drs. Polid & Schmidt for the monthly concert series. St. Jacobi had a nice number in the audience in spite of a gray day.Dr. Polidi, Violin and Dr. Thomas Schmidt, Piano played a program that honored Mozart for his Birthday this month and the memory of Dr. Polidi's wife. The program included pieces by Mozart of one of the composers that perished during the holocost of World War II. About 45 people enjoyed the program and the light refreshments afterwards in Friendship Hall. This concert was part of the series for continuing comfort and healing after the events of September 2001. Such high world renown quality artists are such a treat for the community of Brooklyn to be at St. Jacobi. |

| MARIANNE LABRIOLA IN OCTOBER CONCERT |

On Sunday, October 8th, St. Jacobi's Music Series had the pleasure to welcome Ms. Martianne Labriola for a Concert. We were warmed by her Soprano voice is a selection of pieces for an apreciative audiance.Ms. Labriola was once again warm;y we;comed by a slightly smaller than usual couple dozen members of the audience. The smaller than usual turnout was due to the Columbus Day weekend as we learned from some of our missing regulars. Ms. Labriola included about a dozen and a half selections for the aproximately hour of song as she was accompanied on the piano. Her appearance was in part supported by a grant for which St. Jacobi is very thankful. Afterwards she was thanked by several of the audience as Ms. Labriola stayed to share in light refreshments in Friendship Hall. The members of the Music Healing Ministry and the Congregation of St. Jacobi are so very happy to have had the opportunity to hear her warm vouive fill the Sanctuary Performance Space this October. | HELPING THE CHRISTMAS AT SEA PROGRAM |
| |
The Christian Service Forum has once again supported the 'CHRISTMAS AT SEA' program of the Seafaers & International House of New York City. Friends and members of the congregation contributed items for the two packages sent to the Seafarers International House in Manhattan in December. Each year the Chaplains and volunteers of the Seafarers International House are pleased to have Conreations of the Metro area help with the visits to the Ships making a call to the New York Port. Holiday boxes of gifts of mostly personal items were a part of the generosity of the Lutheran Churches of the Metro area. For some seamen it has been weeks since they were last home and a visit while in Port by a Chaplain of the Seafares & International House is always a welcome event. . |

| 2006 THRIVENT MATCHING GRANT |
2006 Marching Grant | . 2006 required a little work on the infrastucture of the worship space at St. Jacobi. Specifically, our wonderful Sanctuary is in need of work. Now is the time to fix the minor problems before they become major. This Fall we worked to have a matching donation program with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans to raise thirteen hundred ($1300) Dollars to put to the refurbishing of the Sanctuary and side Building roofs. The Gutters and downspouts were fixed on the Church. The roof of the side building (Old Pasonage) was re-roofed. And, we had a little work done on the magnificent Moeller Organ in the Sanctuary to keep it in good working order for Worship and special occasions. Contributions can still be made but creditted to 2007 [made to St. Jacobi Lutheran Church] and be sent to the Church Office [5406 Fourth Ave,. Brooklyn NY 11220] with a note that it is for the 'Thrivent match'. You may also place it in the Sunday Offering. . |
