In February 2006 the Council of St. Jacobi's Congregation took the bold step to appoint a Committee to study the role of St. Jacobi for 2007 and beyond. It is currently actively meeting and exploring the options with a goal to present a recomendation to the Congregation by the start of Summer this year. Our current small size limits our resources and ability to perform the many Ministries of an ative Congregation. The Committee has been established to look at where we are and what we currently bring to a plan for the future. To decide what form that future will be and for how long. Once complete, a reccomendation will be presentated to the Congregation members as to the form of our Ministru in the near and short term future.
Currently the Committee is looking at three proposals. Members are researching such things as required manpower needs, financial resources required, time involvement, benefits and deficiancies of each proposal.
Due to the very complicated nature of the Study the assistance of the Dean of the SW Conference and an Assistant to the Bynod Bishop is meeting with the Council Members and helping with the review of the current status and evaluating the ideas for the future.
As we go through this year 2007, we see the depletion of our financial resouces and a point at which we can no longer cover our expense without changes occuring. The Committee is seeking a positive future for St. Jacobi. We see a need, not only for our current members, but for those new members who will be moving into the community. This process is to find the best use of people and resources to make a future possible for the Ministry of St. Jacobi in Sunset Park.
