| 2007 Summer Music Residency a Success |
 Proud Residency Gradustes . | |
Once again St. Jacobi was able to host a Music Residency projram. This summer it was for one week at the end of August. The Children of the Sunset Park neighborhood had a very good time.An outgrowth of the monthly music series here at St. Jacobi is the Music Residency program. This feature an artist or two from the concert series as the resident musician in residence for the seek. Based mostly on classical traditions the program give interested children the opportunity to have a very tanlented musician working with them each day. In 2007 there were about eight students starting the program although there was room for a few more. Covering a series of topic about such things as rythem, melody, harmony etc., the students explored each day topics and instruments. All directed to a final day with a short program as the end result. The students then came together on September 9th to present their shot program as part of the 9-11 Memorial Anniversary Concert featuring Mr. Roosevelt Credit. The Residency program is hosted by St. Jacobi as a musician and funding is available. In 2007 the one week was made possible with a grant from the Long Island Association of Lutheran High School. We are grateful for the support they were able to give. . |

| 2007 and BEYOND |
| Committee to Study the Future Role for St. Jacobi |
. In February 2006 the Council of St. Jacobi's Congregation took the bold step to appoint a Committee to study the role of St. Jacobi for 2007 and beyond. It is currently actively meeting and exploring the options with a goal to present a recomendation to the Congregation asoon as it is ready. Our current small size limits our resources and ability to perform the many Ministries of an larger active Congregation. The Committee has been established to look at where we are, and what we currently bring to a plan for the future. To decide what form that future will be and for how long. Once complete, a reccomendation will be presentated to the Congregation members as to the form of our Ministru in the near and short term future. Although the Committee is looking at three proposals our work is in the background to the activities of the Transistion Pastor and Council. Members are researching such things as required manpower needs, financial resources required, time involvement, benefits and deficiancies of each proposal. Due to the very complicated nature of the Study the assistance of the Dean of the SW Conference and an Assistant to the Bynod Bishop is meeting with the Council Members and helping with the review of the current status and evaluating the ideas for the future. As we go through this year 2007, the Committee is seeking a positive future for St. Jacobi. We see a need, not only for our current members, but for those new members who will be moving into the community. This process is to find the best use of people and resources to make a future possible for the Ministry of St. Jacobi in Sunset Park. . |
