Photo Album - Philmont Trips
.
This page of Photos shows my trips to the BSA's National Conference Traing Center at the Philmont Scout Ranch near Cimarron, New Mexico. The Ranch is a working Cattle Ranch of about 238,000 acres. It also hosts the National Conference Traing Center and the Philmont Camping Center, one of BSA's national High Adventure Centers. Participantion is by invitation of the National Council through one of it's Divisions directly or by the Division by recommendation of your Local Council.

These are the Confrences I've recently was honored to be invited to participate in.

In July 2002 I was invited to participate in the Scouting in the Lutheran Church Conference at the BSA's Philmont National Training Center near Cimerron, NM. Theses are a few photos of just the Conference during the week at Philmont. There are additional photos of the the trip to/from involving the trains on the "Photos - Railfanning" pages.

The evening's Chapel Devotions for the arriving Participants and family members

The first full day starts with a Welcome to all the Conference Groups at Philmont to start the week off

After the Assembly we had our Conference Group Photo for us to have at week's end

The Lutheran Participants then go off to the Conference Classroom

A nice shot of the Chapel at dawn - just to see if you are paying attention

Another view of the line for each meal with South Tent City in backgound.

Once inside the line goes to the serving tables while some get tables or drinks.

Families gather for one of the daily activities during the Conference sessions.

Picking up young group children after the Tuesday overnight for them.

Wednesday afternoon is for family activities and the Philmont Bus Tour starting with Rayado and the Kit Karson Museum

A stop on the tour for a look at Philmont's signature landmark - The Tooth of Time

Or, a stop at an overlook to see the Camping Headquarters for the other activities at Philmont

As the tour bus went towards Cimarron we could just see the Buffalo herd off in the distance

Wednesday evening had another tradition - the Buffalo Burger Bar-B-Que for dinner

2004 Scouting in the Church's Ministry Conference at BSA's National Training Center at Philmont Scout Ranch, Cimarron, NM
.
For 2004 I was invited to two Conferences and picked the first one to arrive in December.

Similar to the Conference two years earlier the subject revolved around Scouting in Protestant Churches, the Religious Emblems programs of the various Churches that are recognized by the BSA and promoting the use of Scouting as a youth program for the Churches.

The pictures from 2002 tell a very, very good story. These additional pictures just fill in and expand the story.

The optional Wednesday (Family Day) afternoon Philmont Tour ends on Main Street in Cimarron

Added in 2004 was a Family Photo opportunity

Wednesday Night is Western Night and activities for children like roping are added

The whole family can enjoy the Western Night Dance in the Assembly Hall

Every day Scouts come and go for Backpacking Treks at Philmont as we prepare to head home after the Conference
