Welcome to this year's Newsletter. This and the Calendar shows what I'm about. But all the activities and all the time spent are not shown - this is not a diary just a summary.

December
Just another average month. Too busy to get everything done. Spent spare time helping mom get out her Holiday Greetings Letter and sending them to the few people she has on her mailing list.

Covered for missing Aides on a couple days towards the end of the month.

No other changes or events.

November
November is finally getting cooler. Not that it gives me any opportunity to do anything - it just feels more Fall like.

Changes with mom's Aide may mean less time for myself. Had to care for her on Sunday too for oart of the day as the Aide doesn't have an Aide for her own mom on weekends now.

Looks as if the second Aide will cover for Sundays so that I'll get back a few hours for myself. Third weekend and the Holiday is this week. Plan to be home taking care of mom and saving a few bucks. She is forgetting a little more recent info. Some days are better with her effort to walk a little. She's had a sore on one toe that has casued reduced walking. It's slowly getting better.

I'm planing to replace the HP digital camera I got nearly three years ago as it has a program faoult that causes a color shift and already the Model is discontinued. The first two digitals I got are now non working. Miss taking pictures but then I really don't have the opportunity much of the time. That's why there hasn't been anything new added.

October
Quietly starts the month. Routine. On the Columbus weekend I helped pass-out Flyers for the Scout Troop. Sunday the Aide didn't show again so I stayed home and got to listen to a little of WDVX FM's A Cumberland Sunday Morning via the Internet - it helps make up for not attending worship. Americana Gospel at its best.

Back to routines.

Got a good report from the Internist at the start of the third week. Went to McD to have something for supper as a result. Please don't tell.

September
Ouch. The first week saw an unfortunate accident. Coming hme from a meeting as I walk along the Avenue a block frome my mom's home. As I walked past a woman with a small dog, the dog darted out in front of my feet and around behind my left side, You guessed it, I went down head first into the sidewalk. I may have been out briefly. Anyway a trip to the hospital and getting home at 3:30 am with facial cuts and swelling was the result.

During the next week I recovered and am fine now. Needless to say my mom was concerned when I didn't come home. I actually went to work the next morning because I had to get prescription renewals I put in the day before. I was out of one medication, so I had to go in. That's the way life sometimes moves.

It took the third week to be fully recovered. Rest of the week was uneventful.

The month ended with the 80th Anniversary of the Scout Troop's Charter being issued to operate. No clebration however. Since again some members schedules didn't include it we cancelled any plans for a dinner to celebrate. We need to recruit new members to rebuild the Troop so we can continue. And so the month ends/

July and August
It is harder and harder to find time to update this page. The demands of caring for my mom increase with each month. She needs more time, and I am NOT complaining, about this. It is just an observation that she is unable to do more little things and she is homebound for longer time as the months go by.

The home-aide has limits to what she will do. That's a whole subject unto itself. The two wemen are nice people, don't get me wrong. They just think that it I, as the son, am around, there are things I should be doing. I just think that if you are working for the person you do all that is needed to care for the person. Anything else is a bonus for the person by the family done out of love, not necessity because the caregiver did not do it.

The heat is tough on us both this summer. Two cool days in August are a blessing.

June

Another June, another year

Status quo

May
Once again there is no change of any real note. Been very busy with the Coop with new members applying. Working with mom to get her up and walking with the aide and her modified Walker at least for a little exercise. We both feels any change in the weather so some days are good and others are not. The Scout Troop is still suffering from a lack of youth members and we can't seem to find time when two or more adults are available to do anything for recruiting. No spare time for anyone. Same old, same old.
.
April
The month starts without any changes and continues the same . The spate of bad weather made all of us achey and less than comfortable. No other news.
March
Mom is up to a half dozen times down the halway at the start of the month. The private hire is working out so far. Less time for updating Websites now since I need to spend more time with mom as a physical therapist. Same goes for checking emails.

Second week mom is up to ten times down the hall.

Third week starts with 14 short walks down the short hall. But she is up at least once a day for them. She is on top of most things though. Misplaces things easily.

The month ened the same.

January and February
Happy New Year to all.

January starts off with daily activites unchanged. Mom is, with my help upon returning from work each day, walking a few steps with the modified walker. The Aide is there with the chair right behind her and I in front with her & the walker.

Missed the four day campout with old friends in Scouting this weekend in order to care for mom on the days the Aide is not scheduled. Got some chores done inbetween,

Spending more time with mom as her physical therapist. Some good days and some not so good. She is walking with the aid of myself and her Home Aide.

Mid Feb sees the end of the Agency provided Home Aides. See we have been given an opportunity to hire direct, and we will.

Started with a person directly hired to care for mom. About 30% less. Wish it was more but could het it lower.

By the end of Feb she is walking a few times down the hall in her apt each day. It's more regular and will slowly inrease the number of times. Otherwise busy with too many things. Still trying to rebuilt the Troop. Keep things going with the Coop and the Church is going through leadership changes and questions about the future.
