A Message From Pastor Bonnie Mefferd
The congregation of St. Mark's consists of members, associate members, newcomers to the Charleston/Mt. Pleasant area, snowbirds, island vacationers, and those on retreat at the Lutheran Retreat Center. We welcome all with joy and love.

Communion is offered at every worship service, and nursery care is available. In addition, we offer midweek Wednesday evening (6:30) services during Advent and Lent. During Holy Week, we offer a Maundy Thursday Footwashing service or a Seder meal, an Hours of Darkness Vigil and an evening reading of the Passion on Good Friday, and a Saturday Vigil. Easter begins wtih sunrise service at Sunrise Presbyterian and continues with brunch, an egg hunt, and a full worship service. Periodically, we hold healing services, blessings of animals, and house blessings upon request.

We offer Bible Study on Sundays with adult, children's and toddlers' Sunday School and on Tuesdays at 6:30. We also offer a monthly Film and Theology study during which we explore the religious threads of current commercial films. In addition, we sponsor periodic retreats.

Our youth join a partnership with five other area churches for quarterly Confirmation retreats and monthly Kid's Club. Our children receive additional care from our ABA/EMA (adult sponsors) ministry. On Sunday, October 24th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, we will sponsor a "Trick or Trunk" event. Kids should come in costume and bring their treat bags!

We have an active Mission Team, which sponsors at least one service project monthly. More information can be found elsewhere on this page. Once a year, we offer Grief Support groups to the community. Three AA groups and a Montessori School share our building.

Fellowship is offered each week after worship and once a month at our Sunday Luncheons. Fellowship activities consist of regular theater and dinner outings, game nights, cook-outs, concerts and visits to area attractions.

We are excited about the way the Holy Spirit is working in our congregation and believe we are a place where those seeking a deeper relationship with God and Jesus Christ may feel at home.

Try us out! We would love to make you a part of this amazing work!

MISSION SUPPORT
So far this year, we have collected money for Haitian and Chilean earthquake relief, and for E. Cooper Community Outreach to which we also sent groceries. We have taken part in a Habitat for Humanity Build and have donated money for a bright, young musician to go to Music Camp. St. Mark's has collected school supplies for the Charleston County School Closet, plastic boxes for the Windwood Farm for Boys, and items for Respite Care at All Saints Lutheran Church. We are currently raising funds for Lutheran Family Services.
DEVOTIONAL BOOKLET
The daily devotional booklet, The Word in Season, is available at no cost, so that all may grow closer to God in discipleship.
