The WELS Ministry Center is a store front ministry in the central city of Milwaukee. It is a base of operations for several ministries that work to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people living in the community around 26th Street and North Ave. People's spiritual needs are addressed in the study of God's Word. Food and clothing are also distributed to meet people's physical needs as blessings from God.The Center is a place of Bible study and worship so that people may know and believe that Jesus has paid for all their sins and that they may learn how to serve God in a spirit of thankfulness and praise. The main message is the promise of eternal life for all who rely on Jesus for the forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God. We work at building relationships between cultures and building the family of God with Word and Sacraments.
The people Jesus loves and gave His life for that they might know of God's love and forgiveness and eternal life. They face many struggles and problems and desire God's guidance and blessing. They desire your prayers and the help you give through food and clothing donations.
WELS Lutherans For Life, Metro-Milwaukee Chapter is one of the ministries offering services at the center. Volunteers help carry on this ministry. Their goal is to bring women and their unborn children to Jesus Christ and His will for their lives. Some women who came for a pregnancy tests have joined WELS churchs in Milwaukee. These are dedicated women driven by their love for Jesus and for the souls He came to save.
Pastor Phil Merten, a counselor from Wisconsin Lutheran Insti-tutional Ministries, conducts a support group for Alcohol and Other Drug Addicted people, helping them to trust in Jesus and draw strength from the wisdom and Truth in the Scriptures. At least one of the people he has counseled with has come to be an active volunteer in the ministry of outreach. She has grown from a point of despair and self destruction to great love for her Savior.
In the afternoon several children from the neighborhood come looking for something to do. Volunteers have come to lead a Sunday School type class for them with other activities that help them with tutoring and mentoring. We also conduct Vacation Bible School classes and other activities for youth. Sometimes we have been able to share Christ with their parents who have then become involved in worshipping Jesus.
People gather for the study of God's message of truth and salvation. Many people are regular in their visits to the WELS Ministry Center. Here they learn of the relationship they have with God through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ. The message of life through Jesus Christ is presented to give hope to people living without hope in a world of temptation and trouble.
