SCRIP PROGRAM
Every Sunday someone (usually Judy Creek) is sitting by the card tables in the chapel hallway offering Scrip cards for sale. Two local merchants participate in our “local” Scrip program. The cards are from: (1) County Market [or IGA in Covington, IN] in denominations of $25, $50 and $100. The church receives 2% of these cards; for example a $100 card costs the church $98 and we make $2 on it. (2) Big R cards are $25; we receive 3% on these cards. They are also available in the church office during the week.On the first Tuesday of each month, the “national” Scrip cards are ordered with delivery the following Sunday. Order blanks are available on the card table in the chapel hallway. Orders can be turned in on Sunday or by 8 a.m. Tuesday morning of the day they are ordered; they should be accompanied by a check or cash for the amount of your order. The order blanks are not all inclusive of the merchants. There is a complete list on the table by the order blanks or the website www.glscrip.com has a list available. The percentage the church receives varies by merchant (which is also printed on the order blank). Parents and grandparents: 50% of the profit Immanuel receives can be designated on the order blank for tuition assistance at DLS. You can get cards for local merchants from AMC theaters to Wal-Mart; they are available for restaurants, clothing stores, department store, gas, theaters, video rental, drug stores and many more. There is also a display board with some of the merchants listed in the chapel hallway.
These cards work the same as cash or a debit card. All the merchants are familiar with them, and they are very easy to use. It’s an easy way to shop at your favorite merchants without a bunch of cash, AND it benefits the church too. The cards also make excellent graduation, birthday, wedding, Christmas or any other occasion gifts.
