JoAnn Tugwell, Chairman BLC
Texas District Website LWML
Thanks for supporting LWML’s Garage Sale, held Sat., March 3rd, in Luther Hall. We enjoyed visiting with the many people who came out for our INDOOR sale. It was a lot of work, but the fellowship and working together was priceless. Most of what wasn’t sold was delivered to Good Will (Wal-Mart shopping center). Books and tapes were delivered to the Library for their book sale on March 17. A portion of the proceeds will be sent to MITES.
LWML Thanks Jerry Hartenberger, Ray Hughes & Scott Hughes for their carpentry work in LWML’s meeting room. Replacing the flooring will be the next project.
THANKS to all who donated items for Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits. They will be packed into boxes to be sent on to the collection point in Dallas. From there, they will shipped to the New Windsor, Maryland, warehouse where they will be directed to locations all over the world, wherever they are needed.
Remember these dates...
Next LWML Meeting: Sunday after church on April 15 (because of Easter on April 8)

New date: April 28, LWML Zone Spring Workshop, St. John, Athens. Watch for more details and plan to attend.

37th Biennial Convention of LWML Texas District in Bryan/College Station will be hosted by the Post Oak and Bluebonnet Zones, June 28 thru July 1, 2012. Set those dates aside to be "adorned" with God's Word.  Deadline: May 1. The Lutheran Witness has details in the LWML section.
Donation in the name of John Cathey as a memorial to be designated for the Debt Retirement Fund.
LWML is now collecting clean aluminum cans for MITES. Place rinsed cans in the receptacle in Garber Hall’s kitchen. You are encouraged to save cans that have been rinsed out at home and bring to the church in clean plastic bags.
A note regarding the Annual Bazaar held Nov. 5 : The members voted to send 10% of proceeds to MITES as a year-end donation. Even though attendance was down somewhat, we will be able to fund several projects over the coming months. Many thanks to all who supported the Bazaar this year!
Notes from the Fall Rally, Sat., October 1, hosted by Our Savior Lutheran Church, Centerville, with six ladies attending from Bethlehem. Speaker, The Rev. Dr. James P. Dretke presented the message from his book A Christian Approach to Muslims. During the business meeting, a new treasurer and vice President were elected and installed. Further, it was announced that there will not be a Spring Retreat for 2012.
Notes about LWML Sunday: October 3, featuring the banner made by Marge Cathey and her team. Theme: “Being With Jesus, Living on the Edge.” Thanks to Pastor Bergman for the service using materials supplied by LWML, and our LWML’ers serving as greeters, ushers and readers. The door offering for Mites yielded $129.00 – Thank you to the congregation of Bethlehem for your support!
Our LWML supports by donations: Jesus O’Lantern Party, for little children, Oct. 30. Organized by Yanneth Harris and Natalie Byrd; memorial for Emilie Tierman, to debt retirement fund; purchased gift cards from Brookshire’s for Pastor to provide to those in need; apportioned payment for LWML page in the Lutheran Witness; reimbursed Mary Unk for 4 tablecloths purchased for new tables used in Luther Hall; provided funds toward purchase of crushed rock to be placed between the church and the parking lot to curb weeds and enhance visual appearance.
UPDATE ON CARD FRONTS FOR ST. JUDE RANCH –
Card Fronts for St. Jude Ranch – We are still accepting card fronts from all kinds of greeting cards. Make sure there are no personal messages or any writing on the back. Size must be 7” by 5” or smaller; please trim if necessary. Because of copyright laws, no Hallmark, Disney or American Greetings cards will be accepted. Look for our collection box in the Narthex. Ask Marge Cathey for more details about this project.
Kroger "Neighbor to Neighbor" Program
Kroger “Neighbor to Neighbor” Program - July 1 thru next April 30. LWML uses these funds for various projects. You must RE - ENROLL each year, so look in the Narthex for the new barcode sheet. When you use your Kroger card, hand the barcode sheet to the cashier for scanning, and it will be attached to your card. You only need to do this once and it’s good until next April. Thanks to all who participate in this way.
LWML Room - Larry Schoppe is working on our closte, and we look forward to its completion.
Love and help are two of the most beautiful words in the world. LWML represents both of those - to love and to help. The LWML shares prayers, financial support and gifts to missions and missionaries around the world.

Each woman who is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church is invited to attend our meetings, usually held after church on the second Sunday of the month. No need to be a member of LWML in order to participate in any of our activities. There are no dues, but we collect donations for MITES and for our general fund. Our major fundraising event is the Annual Bazaar in November.
Serve the Lord with gladness! Pslam 100:2
