Letter from Pastor John Syvertson |
Dear Sister and Brothers in Christ, Grace and Peace. "I bet you're glad Easter is over." That is a comment pastors hear on a yearly basis as the lilies are being taken away. The implication seems to be that since the last big festival of the year is over, it is time to relax, and coast through the rest of the year until September when the school year begins once again. For those of us who have other vocations other than Ordained Ministry, the next busy season is spring. There are the "Prom Season, Track and baseball season, graduation, golf, planting seasons, and vacation seasons. I have to confess, before brginning in the ministry I actually though the Adven/Christmas season was the busiest time of the year. For Pastors and church leaders Advent and Christmas is very busy, but it does not come close to the Easter Season. This however, does not make Advent less important than Easter, or end the season of the church calendar that we can relax and sit back until fall starts again. The Easter season does not last one day, or one week for that matter. The season of Easter goes for five weeks in the church calendar and culminates in May on Pentecost Sunday which is known as the birthday of the Christian Church. Longer days, warmer weather, new birth and growth can nudge us toward a too simple; happy tone in the Easter message: "Christ is risen! He has risen indeed!" These are wonderful words indeed however I recall the theme for the VBS last year went something like this: "Christ has risen. So now what?" I may not have the words exactly correct, but the question is right. Now what? How has he Lenten experience moved us? What difference does it make for each one of us that Christ has risen for each one of us? In this busy season of Spring, springs-work for farmers, vacations for others of us, it is important that Chist came for us and remembered us for all time, not just during Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Or as some refer to it as the C & E Christians (Christmas and Easter). While we may refresh ourselves throughout the spring and summer, it is important to take time each day and each week to remember the one who lifts us up, sustains and keeps us all of our days. That same one gives us those gifts of the freshness of springtime, and the freshness of a new life in Christ today and always! Thanks be to God! Amen Pastor John

Windows in the Fellowship Hall |
10 windows in the fellowship hall have been replaced do to the old windows not being efficient. The new windows will help with the heating cost for many years to come. Thanks to a donation from an estate we had $5000 for this project before starting, we received $720 from Thrivent, and $1300 from an individual. The remaining funds (less than $2000) came out of our General Fund. Please take a moment to enjoy these new windows.

Light Fixtures |
As many of you know we are in the process of replacing some of the light fixtures in the church. The biggest part of this project will be replacing the lights in the sanctuary. Yes, this will be a costly project, but not as costly as it would be if these light fixtures casue a fire. We could just replace the wiring in the light fixtures, but we would like more light in the church as well, therefore the council has approved the recommendation of the Property Committee to replace the whole light fixture. So fat through Lent Suppers and other donations we have recieved $508. There will be more fund raising events going on in the near future to help with the cost of this project. The following people have donated towards the lighting project: Cory & Teresa Egeberg Otto & Ruby Folkers Terry & Fay Froseth Jim & Maryann Geiger Tim & Melissa Harris Sharon Inman (in memory of Reiny) Jamie & Heather Livingston Ron & Marla Jensen
