LWR Fair Trade Coffee
& Chocolate Projects

Peace is starting work with LWR (Lutheran
World Relief) on 2 of their Fair Trade Projects.

Fair Trade shares the bounty of the chocolate and
coffee trades with those who grow the crops. The
projects help the growers build a better future
for themselves and their communities.

Working together, growers from a cooperative so they
can sell their crops directly to the international
buyers, bypassing middlemen. Through Fair Trade,
farmers receive a fair price, thus guaranteeing a
living wage.

Fair Trade is an ongoing process offering consistency
to the farmers, their families and communities.

Peace will be marketing Fair Trade coffees, teas,
hot chocolate and chocolate candy. This program
will be debuted at the Basement Sale, June 5 & 6.

Come check out their booth!

Let's Say Thanks
This website created by Xerox makes it possible for
people to send postcards to our American Troops all year.
There are specific card designs to pick and Xerox will
send the card to a service person.
Just go to the link below to send your card!
Come back to the link periodically and send more cards!
This is a cheerful way to support the Troops!
There is also a link on the website to read messages from service people who have received the postcards. Even a
'small'effort like this on our part makes a large impact
on their lives.

Homeless Shelter Coming to
Grundy County & Peace
Peace will join four other Morris area churches
in opening our doors one night each week to
create the first homeless shelter for individuals
in Grundy County. The 5 churches will be
available for sleeping and a meal for homeless
individuals from 7 pm to 7 am Monday through
Friday, beginning Nov 3rd. Peace will host on
Mondays. Volunteers from each of the host
churches are needed for each of 3 shifts
every night.

Other participating churches are: First United
Methodist - Tuesdays, First Christian - Wednesdays,
First Presbyterian - Thursdays, Immaculate Conception
Catholic - Fridays and New Community Church - Saturdays.

Don Trejo is the onsite coordinator for Peace. Don can be
contacted at 941-1572 if you have questions or would
like to volunteer. You may also contact Pastor Jeff or
members of the council with any questions, support or
concerns you may have.

The council approved a motion last week to support this
project as a host church. However, no designated number
of Peace volunteers has been guaranteed until Don has a
list of volunteers from Peace.

Don participated in a volunteer training session on
Sept. 20th. He also volunteered for a trial run of
this project at First United Methodist in April.
