The end of May marks the end of another Confirmation
year with the Affirmation of Baptism (Rite of Confirmation.
The two year faith journey will culminate on
May 31st for Erika and Jacob. Each year Pastor Jeff and I guide
our youth through the Faith Inkubator experience then begin planning for the next year's journey.
The funny thing is each year our students basically
stay the same age as the previous group moves on.
It is amazing to me just seeing them after a summer,
how much of a change has occurred. This is our 8th year
and what is even more amazing is seeing previous classes
"all grown up". So we as a Congregation need to keep all
of them in our prayers as their faith journey continues. Now I am in no way a wise man nor any sort of
prophet but I do consider myself knowlegeable person.
And there are three things that I have come across over
the years that I think might be important for
the students to take with them as they move on.
There are two verses from a song that have stuck with
me over the years. The first is: "And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance..I hope you dance !"
Never think that you can't, God has chosen you to be
one of His. There were many that He selected that
thought they couldn't dance..but they did..and God knew
they could! So dance!
The second.." I hope you still feel small when you
stand beside the ocean, never fear the mountains in the distance". You must realize the Wonder of God and
understand his power. However, realize that although
you are a small piece to his creation..your piece
does matter.
And lastly.. in the book of Mark in Chapter 4, the
Parable of the Sower: A farmer went out to sow his seed,
as he was scattering the seed some fell along the path..some fell where it didn't have much soil. It sprang up
quickly because the soil was shallow.
But when the sun came up the plants were scorched,
and they withered because they had no root..
Having deep roots insures that one will stand strong
through anything. Your family, friends, and faith are what waters those roots!
May God Bless
