Fun Memories of Past Events!

Mother's Day & Annual Hat Day

Men even got into the swing of things! Judy S.
shared her vintage hats with everyone. It was
a fantastic turnout for Mother's Day!

The sound system crew (and another brave?!?!
soul) removed the old speakers from the
ceiling of the Sanctuary.

One of the old speakers was 'fried'! (Was it
from a lightening bolt during a sermon.......)

Enjoy the pictures & the view.

Welcome our New Members!

Centurion Marcellus, one of the Specluatores, a
special unit within Caesar's personal legion of
bodyguards - the Praetorian Guard - is the main
character of the Mid-week Lenten Services. The
Praetorian Guard is an elite group of soldiers who
gathered intelligence on the enemies of Rome.
Marcellus was task was to investigate the rumors that
recently began to circulate in Rome about a charismatic
new rabbi and his followers in Galilee. Stories about
this rabbi have moved very rapidly and were very wide-
spread. This meant that this Jew was popular and
had influence which could be dangerous to Rome.

Marcellus will be in full Roman Guard Armor for Maundy
Thursday and Good Friday Services.

____________________
On Maundy Thursday, Marcellus was instructed to find
Jesus after Jesus had disappeared for a few days.
Tiberius Caesar wanted Marcellus to detain and
interrogate Jesus.

On Good Friday, Marcellus learns of the fate of Jesus.
Marcellus also learns that he is assigned command
of the crucifixion detail. For Marcellus, this will be
the first time he has met Jesus in person. It will
also be a strong personal struggle for him.

Easter at Peace was full of color,
wonderful song,
the cry of a baby being baptized,
children laughing, whispering and being joyous,
stirring words,
First Communions, full of wonderment at the gift,
lots of love and
the Risen Christ.

Souper Bowl - 2009
For Souper Bowl 2009, Peace's youth collected $400
cash from the collection kettles and serving breakfast.
They also went from door-to-door on 2 Saturdays.
The 1st Sat. they left a collection bag
with details about Souper Bowl on doorsteps in the neighborhood.
On the 2nd Saturday, they went back and collected
40 bags of non-perishables for We Care.

GREAT JOB!!!

Lenten Drama 2008
Grand Jury Investigation Into The Trial and
Execution of Jesus!

The 2008 drama series will have everyone
pondering how to answer the questions:

What really motivated the main characters in
the events surrounding Jesus' death?
Was Judas merely a pragmatic man dealing
with the unpleasant realitites of everyday
life in an occupied land?
Was Herod an honorable leader of the Hebrew people
who was concerned with saving lives?
Was Pontius Pilate a talented and efficient
representative of Rome who was simply trying to
keep the peace?
Or, did they all intentionally participate in the
wrongful execution of an innocent man?
The Church says Jesus died for us, for the sins
of the world...but, is this the real truth?

The Peace Lutheran Church Wednesday Quilters traveled to the Illinois Veterans' Home in La Salle, Illinois to donate quilts to the facility. The home is located on a campus of about four acres. Intermediate & skilled care are provided to our veterans with a total capacity right now of 120 beds. However, a new section will be opening soon to provide care to our veterans suffering with Alzheimers Disease and related dementia. The quilts will be utilized in this new section of the facility when it opens. They were thrilled to receive the quilts to be able to brighten the rooms for our veterans.

We meet on Wednesday starting at 9:00 AM in the church basement area. If you can use scissors, tie a knot, sew a seam, or just come to give us support, we would love to have you join us.
