Michael Ensrude attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, from 1968-1972 where he met Bonita Nelson. Following graduation, Mike worked for one year as a youth minister at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Park River, North Dakota, after which he entered the seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. During those summers of seminary, Mike worked as a camp counselor & canoe guide. Together, Bonnie & Mike were called by the Valley Migrant Ministry of the Lutheran Churches of North Dakota & Minnesota to help them minister to the migrants who came each summer to work the fields. As a result of this experience, Michael was selected for a specialized internship program in San Antonio, Texas, in a bilingual congregation.After graduation from seminary, Bonnie & Mike were called to St. John's Lutheran Church, Bishop, Texas. After seven years, they were called to Ascension Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, where they remained for 15 years. Michael worked extensively with AIDS ministry in the 1980's & received his Doctorate of Ministry from Austin Presbyterian Seminary. In December of 1999, Mike & Bonnie moved to Fredericksburg, Texas, to become Sr. Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church. After completing 10 years at Zion, Michael is now engaged in Intentional Interim Ministry. |
