Bytes of Bread for June 24 |
Dear members and friends of Risen Savior, We had an excellent meal and meeting last Sunday, to plan for our future Spanish ministry. The target date for starting our weekly worship services is Sunday, August 14th. We'd begin each week at 12 Noon, about a half hour after the English service ends. There was much discussion about the fact that ESL (English as a Second Language) classes would also be a success, as there are places in Orlando who charge for the class, and are filled to capacity. That will probably be the next step in our planning. We also stressed the importance of all of us staying together as one congregation, even if we are attending different services. It is really not that different from having two services in English - but that can split the "togetherness" of the congregation as well. Gonzalo Delgadillo and Nelson Encarnacion are willing to conduct the weekly services, even as they train for the pastoral ministry under Pastor Goeglein. All of this will be officially discussed and hopefully passed at our special voters' meeting, which has been set for Sunday, July 10th. We also are planning a full presentation on our future school at that meeting.Serengeti Trek, Part 2, our second Bible Camp Overnighter is scheduled for July 12th. If your children came to the first one, be sure they are signed up for part 2. We start on that Tuesday evening, 6:00 pm and finish the following day, 6:00 pm. Register this weekend at church. On that evening, we also will have the help of about 20 high school teens from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. They will be in Orlando for the international youth rally at Disney and are coming a day early because of airline costs. We will need many of you to help transport them, and also host them overnight on Saturday, July 16. (they will be staying at the church with our Bible camp on Tuesday evening). Plan to sign up this Sunday for whatever way you can help! . This week's message is from the prophet Joel, and we'll be asking you the question: "Are you a Survivor?" Also James Goodrich will have a solo presentation, acting as the disciple Andrew. Hope you can join us! Yours in our Risen Savior, Pastor Steven Blumer

Bytes of Bread: ROLLER COASTERS |
"Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you
and you will honor me." Psalm 50:15
I love roller coasters. My wife hates them. She can't handle the ups and downs – the constant jostling.
Our lives here on earth in many ways are like roller coaster rides. We have our ups and our downs. Because we live in a sinful world, we all at times will suffer. And some of us are going to suffer more than others. We will get sick. We will suffer abuse. We will have heartache and pain.
But God knows your pain. He knows what you are feeling. He knows your frustration. So turn to him. Open up your heart and tell him: "God, I hurt." Turn to him and trust that he will rescue you from your pain.
Because he will rescue you.
Look back on your life. We all have gone through difficult times. We all have suffered sickness and pain, and yet God always has gotten us through. Even if you have a hurt, a sickness, or a problem that plagues you your entire life here on earth, God will eventually rescue you. One day in the not too distant future, he will take you by the hand and lead you to the promised land. There he will dry every tear from your eyes.
Life is a roller coaster ride of emotions. But don't give up. Don't ever give up. Turn to God when you hurt and open up your heart to him in prayer. Turn to God and remember his promises. He is the one who will deliver you.
Lord, in your love deliver me from all my pain. Amen.
The following email is from Missionary Rob Meister who serves for us in Thailand. Please keep this gospel outreach conducted in Jesus' name in your prayers.
This morning we got a phone call from Evangelist Sam who is serving at the Baan Ruam Thai 9 Village in Tak Province. He said that the recently finished church building was vandalized last night. The front doors (not sure about the back ones) where set on fire sometime last night.
Please keep our BRT#9 Village brothers and sisters in your prayers as we know there has been resistance to their becoming Christians. Please pray also for the non-Christians and the ones setting fire to the doors that the Lord will convict them and turn their hearts to His Truth. May God use even this act to bring glory to His name in that part of Thailand.
In Christ, Rob & Nora
