Trinity Lutheran School PTO, Portland, OR

Welcome to Trinity Lutheran School PTO's website

The objective of the PTO at Trinity Lutheran School is to foster a sense of commuity and fellowship among our families, to create a feeling of ownership and investment in the school and its mission of Lutheran Education, and to enhance the educational experience of all students. It is to be financially self-supported, sponsoring fundraisers as needed to hold family events throughout the year. The PTO may select projects or school needs to raise funds for, with the requirement that it be of benefit to the majority of students and staff.

Upcoming Fundraisers
Traditional Fundraiser - Do you have an idea for a great fundraiser? Please let any Board Member know so we can check figure things out.

Vendor Fair- December 5 - Come and do your Christmas Shopping away from the hustle & bustle of the malls. Many great companies will be represented. While the parents shop there will be a movie and popcorn for the kids

Valentine's Day/Easter - See's Candy sales

Auction - May 9, 2009. This event will be planned through the Development Office and will need assistance with planning and event volunteers. Procurement is needed.

Family Fun Nights
If you have any events you'd like to see happen or if you can help with any of these events please contact any PTO board member. Coordinators and volunteers are needed!

We have planning materials for several different evenings and just need someone to implement the ideas. Please step forward; this is a great way to fulfill your service hours.

TLS Tiger Hours
Trinity Lutheran School values parental involvement in the education of children as well as in the entire program of the school and congregation. Working together as parents, staff and congregation, a positive school enviornment and community spirit will be enhanced.

Volunteering will also benefit the education, safety and well being of the students, staff and families of Trinity Lutheran School. Without support, funding of field trips, school assemblies, scholarships, the library, computer lab and grants will not be possible. Volunteer hours and/or monies also provide improvements to the school facility, support for maintenance needs and complete tasks that may otherwise be done by paid workers.

Each family is asked to make a commitment of time, talents or treasures to Trinity's program. This plan provides information and opportunities to do so.

All families are requested to provide 20 service hours annually, July 1st through June 30th, and all hours must be completed by June 30th of the current school year. Instead of service hours, a monetary contribution to the PTO's adopted grants would be accepted.

The PTO will provide a list of services needed (see below), a process for volunterring and a way to record service time.

In its yearly goals, the PTO strives to provide numerous resources for Trinity's program, staff and families. It also provides opportunities for all families, through service, to respond to God's blessings in their lives.

We are confident that the honor system will work for tracking each families service hours. On the table outside the school office there is a 3-ring notebook with each family's name. Please note how and when you have volunteered, whether it is working in a classroom with the teachers, going on a field trip, or helping specifically with PTO fund raisers.

Uniform Exchange Closet
The Clothes Closet is based on an exchange system. For example; a family brings in one article of clothing and they get to take one article of clothing from the Closet. The Clothes Closet program is only for Trinity Lutheran School families.

We accept gently used clothing. Visibly worn clothes will not be accepted or meet the exchange requirements. Please launder all clothes before exchanging. Only clothing meeting Trinity's dress policy will be exchangeable. No torn, stained or missing buttons/snaps will be accepted. Gently used shoes are welcome and can be exchanged for shoes or clothing. The Closet will accept donated clothing without exchange as well. If you are interested in exchanging articles of clothing please contact Naomi Bledsoe for an appointment.
