| Requested Recipes-Aunt Lillian's Coffee Cake |
1/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed ¼ cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1 cups, walnuts, chopped 1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt 1 cup (8 oz.) sour creamPreheat oven to 350 o. In a bowl, combine the brown and white sugars, cinnamon and walnuts. Set aside. With electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Add sifted and combined flour, baking powder, soda, and salt alternately with sour cream. Pour half the batter into a well greased and floured 9 x 13-inch baking pan; sprinkle with half the nut mixture. Bake until nicely browned or when a cake tester comes away dry—about 35 minutes. Let cool thoroughly in pan before cutting into squares. Note: Dough is hard to spread, I use moistened fingertip. This is a good make-ahead breakfast. Can be re-heated in microwave.
