Prince of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church was organized in August, 2005, by a group of around a hundred Lutherans committed to carrying out our Lord’s Great Commission in Northern Nevada. Our church is a liturgical, conservative Lutheran church. We are currently not a member of any synod, although it is our plan to eventually join a confessional Lutheran Synod. Our “non-member” status is administrative in its origin, and not due to any doctrinal disagreement with the doctrine and practice of WELS, ELS, or the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference.
We subscribe to the confessional statements of the WELS, ELS and the Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference (CELC), but we are not members of nor in declared fellowship with any synod. Our constitution and bylaws, for the most part, patterns the model followed by many WELS congregations. We fully support, rejoice, and treasure in the ministry of not only Redeemer, Lovelock, but also all the membership of WELS, ELS, and the CELC.
It is our plan to aggressively reach out with the gospel to the unchurched in the rapidly growing communities of Northern Nevada. We pray that our Lord eventually bless us in the establishment of daughter congregations that will better enable His voice to be heard. We pray for the faithful proclamation of the word by the pastors and members of all churches.
So, until God opens the door to membership in a confessional Lutheran synod, we pray that our relative smallness in size will not prevent us from faithfully proclaiming His word.
